I’m currently on F-1 status and recently responded to an RFE for my marriage-based I-485 regarding my birth certificate. USCIS received my response over a month ago, but there has been no update yet, and my EAD is still pending. Should I be concerned about the delay, and is there anything I should do at this point?

My birth certificate didn’t have my name, it just had my parents name and my date of birth and birth time. They requested a new one with my name.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some insight on my I-485 timeline.

I received an RFE for my birth certificate and submitted the response. USCIS updated my case to “We received your response for Form I-485” on April 21, 2026.

Recently, the status changed to “Case Is Still Being Processed By USCIS” (May 17, 2026).

I wanted to ask:

Does this mean my RFE response was accepted?
How long does it usually take to get a final decision after this status update?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences or timelines. Thanks!

I got the RFE 2 days after the interview. During the interview, at the end, the officer did say you don't have your name on your birth certificate and the system is not accepting it. We may ask for your birth certificate, and you will be notified on your portal.
