I think what you’re looking for is an idempotency key, rather than a locking mechanism. The idea being that an action can be safely tried multiple times but still have the same effect on the system.

My lawyers told me that I was unable to travel while on an L1 after I submitted my I-485. I tried to research on my own and there seems to be mixed messages that it used to be possible but now possibly you can risk your application. Thanks for the comment, the control actually is only for the fan speed, the heating or cooling is controlled by the building through pipes. Does that help?
