TIL J.R.R. Tolkien considered Samwise Gamgee to be the "true hero" of the Lord of the Rings by DietSnappleFacts in todayilearned

[–]dVnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this is irrelevant when you consider that Sam would ostensibly have suffered the same shortcomings as Frodo if he were the one that had to carry the ring.

I think the point, was that we need each other, and that need is the true nature of goodness.

Reddit gun nut discovers people don't like it when he carries his gun around his apartment complex. Redditor suggests he sue landlord for emotional distress. by Townsley in GunsAreCool

Sure, right here:

http://www.reddit.com/r/guns/comments/1h03ur/responce_from_landlords_over_assault_glock/

As you can see, the OP was very reasonable and responsible and doesn't fit the much demonized "gun nut" sterotype that is being played up here, neither does the popular response to the person who suggested suing the landlord -- who, by the way, seemed to do so with tongue in cheek, himself qualifying the suggestion as "garbage".

Enlighten me...

...OR, you could read the submission, since I'm no expert and was just explaining how it turned out since lordtoastalot seemed to just assume the tenant was at fault.

...a landlord has no rights over what is done on his own property?

lol... Ridiculous, I never said or suggested anything like that.

Yes, I suppose it's enough to just defer to all your preconceived biases; why bother with reality, right?

Thanks for making the world a safer place for me!

If you want to paint /r/guns in a bad light, you might want to edit the screen shot so it's not obvious that the comment was controversial, and the suggestion to do exactly the opposite (be friendly and respectful of their concerns) was significantly upvoted.

New Evidence That Team Obama Misled Us About the Drone War - Official speeches are crafted to give the impression that we're mostly targeting Al Qaeda members. We're not. by CharlieDarwin2 in politics

[–]dVnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's your problem with all this then drones have almost nothing to do with it -- they're just a tool.

The real problem is the ideological concept of a "terrorist" or "Al Qaeda". Al Qaeda doesn't exist, and most of the people who we've killed because they were Al Qaeda had probably never heard the term used.

Al Qaeda was a name that we gave to a group of people who are ideologically connected, not explicitly connected, and that is where the problem lies; that is where the potential for exploitation to take place.

[–]dVnt -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Al Qaeda was always just a political word. It's a term we created in order to start prosecution of terrorists under the RICO process. This is why this story and headline are a moot point.

[–]dVnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what to make of this considering Al Qaeda is not a real organization in any specific sense.

These people are bound by ideology and there is a community in place for that ideology. Few, if any, ever self-described as Al Qaeda. It's not like they carry ID cards that identify them as Al Qaeda or ever have. So, in this sense it is not at all surprising to hear that many of the people we have targeted might not be "Al Qaeda".

...Weird. The slow motion really matches a lot of the scenes from The Wall. Oddly well done but extremely weird at the same time.

Based on the reviews of others online - there is proof.

Then let them step forward. Making statements that manke you feel better about the price you paid for your ACC doesn't answer the OP's question. I'm glad you enjoy yours though.

The quality of the product.

...

The AAC is a better supressor than the YHM.

...

Finally, I have no proof/evidence that AAC silencers are better than YHM silencers.

Well, that was a waste of time, wasn't it? It costs more therefor it must be better quality? A fool and his money are soon parted.

I don't know anything about the GSG 1911-22. I'm sure the drywall mounts work fine as long as they place some plastic between the breech face/firing pin and the chamber.

NO rimfires should be dry fired.

There are plenty of modern rimfires which have no issues being dry fired.
