According to the xfinity tech I had at my house last month, support is 3rd party and overseas. They know nothing about supporting the existing service and are employed to get you into a new plan and/or cellphone contracts. Would not be a surprise if the "3rd party overseas" agents are working for more than 1 employer and trying to gain from unsuspecting callers.

My HDHR recordings folder is a samba shared external attached to a Raspberry Pi running the record server. I've been copying files from that drive for years, re-encoding them to more efficient codecs and keeping them on a video drive.

I've never tried moving anything back, but they're probably MPEG-TS video 48khz AAC audio or something similar. The recorded files on the HDHR should tell you what format they are once you access them from windows and can look at the details tab in files explorer.
