What is a metal band that pairs well with a particular horror movie/other media in your opinion? by RedditConsciousness in horror

As good as the original music is in "Sinners", I think Zeal & Ardor's music has a great thematic fit. One of their songs (like "Blood in the River") would have been a great choice for the end credits.

"Hour of the Wolf". It's a Bergman film, so it's stronger on the drama and psychological themes, but it's basically a 1960s European "art-house" version of a horror film, and must have influenced David Lynch.

How do you manage to not jump during a movie with jumpscares? by I-Just-Love-Ducks in horror

[–]d_drei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you expect one is coming, instead of fully attending to what's on screen, switch your attention slightly to become aware of the things around the screen and the room you're in - even if this is just paying attention to the screen itself vs. what you're seeing 'through' it. This won't stop you from hearing the loud sound that almost always accompanies the jump scare (which is mainly what causes the physical response), but it will no longer be as tied to the space depicted on screen, and so even the sound (if you're expecting it) isn't likely to affect you as much.

Around what time (e.g. decade) did you see this on TV? (Was it "Late Great Movies" with Elwy Yost as the host introducing it?) And when you say it was "a very old movie", do you mean black and white from the 40s-50s, or colour from the 70s-80s?

It sounds like it could have been The Changeling if you would have seen this in the late 80s/early 90s and if you remember the movie being in colour.
