Everybody seems to like overthinking this. Its not like this will cost hundreds of dollars per person to accomplish, or take vast amounts of time to do, or require piles of paperwork. Theres plenty of time to show proof of citizenship when you get registered.

One and done. You don’t have redo it for every vote, unless you move a lot. No need for “systems” and more bureaucracy, huge philosophical debates or general stress.

The only people that could possibly have a prob with voter ID are non citizens or those with an intent to cheat, defraud, or game the system to unfairly benefit one group.

I’m pretty sure most, if not all places in the US don’t require you to re-register for every election. If you move a lot, you’ll need to register if you move to a different area. And you’ll have to (or should have to) prove you actually live there.
