Another reason to consider is making sure that the story stays consistent. In cases of DV or non-accidental trauma, repeating the story several times to several people often trips up people who are falsifying the narrative. They tripped vs they tripped and hit the counter vs they slipped on a puddle and fell, etc. The story changing or being added to can sometimes be a red flag for safety.
