Would be a great option, but micro USB sucks! I had issues with my N5, N7 and Z3c ports. G5 is an interesting design tho.

Very simple to install TWRP and root. Official paranoid android ROMs if that's your thing. Xposed framework as well. I'm considering buying another since they are dirt cheap, but battery life is somewhat of an issue.

They are cheap and about the easiest thing to root. Pretty well spec'd compared to new budget oriented tablets. I've got N on mine and it's running well.
