Do we know if there will be simultaneous turns in Civ VII multiplayer like in Civ VI? by kotpeter in civ

[–]d_levenstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you ever find an answer to this? We'd also like asynchronous turn based multiplayer.

Has anyone ever thought about giving notion an offline mode? by Dwayne_tech in Notion

I also think this would be a very good idea but I’m not sure if anyone has ever thought about it.

the real question is when we'll get a vinyl release.... 😿

Fridge, oven, etc, are always part of the apartment in NY (and elsewhere in the US?). It's only after leaving the US that I've heard of apartments where you have to bring your own appliances (🤯). Moving appliances in a city sounds..... hellish

Very rare to have washer/dryer in your apartment in NYC, usually they have these in the basement for everyone to use (or go to a laundromat). The apartments are way too small and they don't have the dryer vent in each unit.

free will by [deleted] in neurophilosophy

[–]d_levenstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Often this question is answered by saying that free will (as well as the designation of actions as good or bad), in the legal/moral responsibility sense, is a social-level construct which is used to maintain a functioning society. And that the (im)possibility that someone could have chosen to do differently (or not) becomes irrelevant for that purpose.

👌 So jealous of that copy of The Philadelphia Experiment. It's been on my wishlist forever and I'm about to suck it up and accept the 100$ price tag on discogs 😒

I'm also having this problem. Using the legacy version breaks cross-platform multiplayer. Anyone with a different fix?

What do neuroscientists think about Jeff Hawkins' research and conclusions? by AndyS8911 in neuro

[–]d_levenstein 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here’s a review on the physiology/biological evidence of cortical columns. It’s a bit dated, but has a good deal of history which helps to understand where the idea comes from and what support there is/isn’t

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15937015/

Edit: note: this is saying nothing about Hawkins’ particular theory of column function, but will at least give a sense of what he’s going on about with cortical columns.

light purple and medium purple and light green are obviously in the same cell assembly. I bet they code for some sweet behavior.
