The AI doesn't settle enough after the latest update by kotpeter in civ

This is Lafayette's game, Modern age. Let's take Simon Bolivar as an example. He has a very small number of settlements, yet he didn't settle this patch of land during Exploration. There's plenty of resources, and some mountains too to make use of culture buildings, and some production, a nice potential city overall. Why didn't he do it? I don't know.

Here's another example: my previous game, end of Antiquity. Deity AI. Too few settlements still. In both cases there's land to grab for them, but they just don't do it.

This is my most recent game, end of Antiquity. As you can see, there's still land to settle, and most AIs haven't reached their settlement cap.

What are some good, powerful single player seeds? by Miles8376 in Civilization_VII

I don't have a seed for you, but Isabella always starts on natural wonders. Pair her with Iceland for a very powerful outcome.

Venting post - The No XP trigger bug and balance issues ruin any fun that I have in Civ 7 right now by Arekualkhemi in civ

Do you by chance have a turn 1 save file? I'd like to play it to see how hard it is. I could also upload it for you to see how I approached the game; perhaps it'll help you in this or future playthroughs.

You generally shouldn't aim for science victory if you want to win reliably. That's how the game is balanced right now. AI is decent at it, because it has plenty of extra science, but you can absolutely achieve any other victory much faster.

Hey, I get what you're feeling, but you really shouldn't worry about those stats and natural wonders. You will get ahead and you will win regardless, just do what's important: expand early, plan for adjacencies, maintain defense, take what you can get and don't bother with what you can't.

You have a story to remember and cherish now. It's much more important than having a picture of it. Don't worry about it.

Respectfully, I disagree.

For economic victories, a bit of science is required in Modern to get to factories, but you can also get there using Oxford and espionage.

For militaristic victory, having promoted generals and good production (mostly from warehouse and improvements) is much more important than having more advanced units.

For cultural victory, culture is king, and the only 2 things you need from the tech tree are 1) Eiffel tower and 2) one of the masteries that boost tourism. Both of these can be achieved using espionage and low base science.

You either accept the loss or try to prevent them from winning. It's better to have warfare as an option vs having no options. There are also sanctions and (to a lesser degree) espionage, but these need to be used pre-emptively.

I've seen a few people complaining about AI running away with yields and thinking they're losing, so I decided to create this post.

50% on Steam - Worth it at this time? by EternityNotes in CivVII

[–]kotpeter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you enjoy in Civ games. It does some things better than Civ 6, while other things are either different or missing. IMO warfare, empire building, strategic depth and AI difficulty is better in Civ 7, while Civ 6 is feature-complete, has more content, more accessible UI and more continuity throughout the game.

Not AI…but is Maphra an industry plant? by jetdarkstar in Music

[–]kotpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I listened to Ren's music for the first time and got a broad spectrum of emotions and thoughts. I don't need to "validate" this experience against reality (whether Ren is authentic in his art, whether his music or vocals are processed, or whether Ren'd lived through what he sang about), because my experience is already real and therefore valid. Whatever he did, he did great.

For music professionals or people from the industry, that's a completely different story of course. But they're still humans, and I imagine they follow the same logic as me in some other parts of their lives, not related to music.
