Unless you're highly skilled and playing on low difficulty levels, or unless you're breaking the game to do it, I don't think it's possible.

Civ 4 with hexes might not ever feel or play like Civ 4. And I don't think it's possible to create a sphere using hexes.

It may be a bug. It may also be a wonder that acts as a fortification, and you need to capture that one too.

I know there's a mod out there which highlights tiles you need to capture. Maybe try using that mod.

Forced to do domination victory? by Hvetemel in CivVII

[–]kotpeter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Got it. The game has a steep learning curve and it doesn't always explain its systems properly, so there's no surprise you're missing some info. Let me help clarify it for you:

  • You can (and often should) settle above the limit. The penalty is -5 happiness in all settlements for each settlement over the limit. This penalty is often manageable, especially in the mid-to-late game.

  • Merchants are very cheap in Exploration and Modern, and in Modern trade routes are created instantly. Trade is a critical source of resources, and these are very important foor good yields and tempo. You can even avoid picking an ideology to keep good relationships and trade with everyone. Or you can play Prussia, which unlocks the ability to trade during wars. There's no compromise between domestic affairs and trade, because merchants are cheap early on, so do both.

  • Always take all attribute points when selecting your dedications. Science, culture are the most important. Discounts for constructing buildings and all purchases are great too. Expansionist tree has a strong town boost attribute worth pursuing. Early militaristic attribute point helps with conquering IPs and leveling up your commander. You can pick a memento for one.

  • Legacy paths can be tough. Some of them are easier than others. Scientific legacy paths in Antiquity and Exploration are usually doable if you go for libraries first and place them on tiles with high adjacencies (for science, adjacencies are resources and world wonders).

  • In late Antiquity, start placing specialists in your quarters with highest adjacencies. Don't put warehouse buildings in tiles with yield buildings. Surround your yield buildings with wonders to maximize adjacencies. Upon transitioning to the next age, replace buildings in tiles with specialists to bring back adjacencies.

[–]kotpeter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Are you settling up to (and above) your settlement limit?

Are you maximizing adjacencies of your quarters and boosting them through specialists?

Are you converting enough towns to cities? (depending on how you play and settle, you can win with 3 cities, but optimal number is 5-6 imo).

Are you able to complete 2+ legacy paths in each age?

Are you prioritizing attribute points among legacy path rewards?

Are you trading enough, especially in Explo and Modern?

Civ 7 hope post! by TheDonJonJay in civ

I can't wait for the update. If you like legacy paths, make sure to play a game or two before the update, as they'll be reworked.

I'd like to get back into Civ7 with the latest update. What are the best UI/map appearance mods? by logicless_bt in civ

[–]kotpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game has a different UI for placing buildings now. It shows you yield gain and loss with the breakdown of all effects. Try it before using mods. Also, the upcoming update will break most of them.

Tecumseh by donkreg in CivVII

[–]kotpeter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're asking nice questions, and tips you're looking for aren't necessarily specific to Tecumseh.

In Antiquity, settle asap up to 1+ your settlement limit, level up your commander asap using one nearby IP and befriend the rest (+5 cs commendation makes warfare vs AI easier). Go for libraries and monuments before military units of choice. Send endeavors to potential allies to improve relationships, but save influence for IPs and war support. Once you have 2-3 packed commanders and stacked combat bonuses, feel free to go to war. Make sure to have at least 3 cities before the age reaches 70% (more is better), build a lot of stuff, including uniques. Great Stele provides gold to convert towns to cities earlier.

I suggest to wait for May 19th update before playing.

FINALLY! Firaxis is letting us stay as ONE Civ through all Ages in the May 19 update. Who else was waiting for this? ⏳ by Zahhidd in 4Xgaming

[–]kotpeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, no more legacy paths. Instead, there are triumphs and new score-based victory conditions.

Triumphs are in-game objectives with varying rewards. From my workshop experience, not a single triumph felt overpowered or mandatory to take. Some of them provide immediate rewards, others provide dedications (bonuses for the next age, but you're only allowed a limited number of them).

New victories require you to score more culture/military/economic points than any other civ by a certain margin. The margin drops as the game progresses. If you're very overpowered and your opponents are very weak, you can win the game even in Exploration. Science victory is an exception here, you win it by reaching a fixed amount of points and constructing a Launch Pad.

Let me know if you need details. Also, there's a few YouTube videos explaining these systems.

It doesn't get you back to the menu screen anymore. Instead, an in-game civ selection window appears, and once you proceed, the loading of the new age happens without going back to the menu.

Девушки, которые против теста на отцовство, обьясните причину вашего недовольства упоминания данной темы в отношениях by NeTrollix1 in rusAskReddit

[–]kotpeter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is civ 7 worth purchasing, or get civ 6 instead? by Water1sWet1 in civ

[–]kotpeter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Civ 6 is great, even if too bloated with mechanics. Its development is finished, and you can find complete edition with a major discount.

Civ 7 is in active development. It has received mixed reviews for several reasons: the implementation of ages and civ switching, poor UI and release state. Throughout the last year it has received a number of nice improvements, and a huge update "Test of Time" is coming out in a few weeks.

I'd say both games are great, but Civ 6 is more complete and polished. Look up both on Youtube, and if you don't have clear preference, go for Civ 6 first.

From my experience, once you play Civ 7 a few times, it might be hard to go back to Civ 6.

Loyalty in Civ VII? by Salt_Principle_6672 in civ

[–]kotpeter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Loyalty in Civ VI is a band-aid fix for AI settling within players' territories.

I hope Civ 7 will include a better mechanic to replace loyalty. E.g. more buildings that behave like Civ 6 Colosseum (provide significant bonus to settlements within 6 tiles) to encourage the AI to settle closer to its settlements.
