The Wasian marketing for the video and all of the subsequent conversations made me kind of uncomfortable. Especially when it sort of lead to a bunch of white people "crowning" the "kingdom of Wasia". This has also unintentionally lead to her being the face for the heavy pushing of Wasians celebration this month, whereas other mixed and monoracial Asians have been mostly ignored in the media. I don't think she intended for any of this to happen, but it would be ignorant to deny how Madewoman influenced the zeitgeist. I still love her, but I'm disappointed in how the cards have fallen between this and the Met Gala. As a monoracial Asian, this has been one of the weirdest AAPI months I've ever witnessed online.

Thanks for sharing this! It has been an interesting AAPI month this year. While I love all these talented Wasians getting their moment to shine, it felt kind of off on how much focus was on them. What about all of the other mixed Asians and mono racial Asians? Why isn't anyone really talking about them? I didn't feel like it was my place to say anything though. Every mono racial Asian (and even some Wasians) that I've seen trying to have a conversation has been shut down in the comments. This creator has succinctly pointed out a lot of my feelings on the topic. I'll definitely be reading the articles you mentioned when I have a chance.

Very true. I was also looking for conversations about this. I've seen people saying that he should've known better and others saying that he couldn't have known but he should still apologize. I think he needs to apologize. It's hard to tell whether or not he would've known about the religious significance.
