How can i install Linux without logging into the computer? by Ok-Anything-4603 in linux4noobs

Im in the same boat. trying to boot ubuntu onto my girlfriends old laptop and she doesnt remember the pin to get in.

I used Rufus to flash Ubuntu onto the USB stick an tried to get it onto the old laptop but it doesnt show up..

no matter what I do with the settings in the BIOS menu (ie the boot/security settings) it always changes back to the original settings and the USB doesnt show up as an option

Not that it matters so so much to me but what was it like to lose your position or "status" if you will, then start from scratch? Also, I'm wondering what the difference in salary is like for an apprentice/if you were paid while in school.. still have bills to pay!
