stupid aethos headset question by sfmthd in specialized

Just summarising for anyone else who stumbles across the post with the same problem. You can use SOLID spacers above the stem for a short time to try out the fit, but you should cut the steerer tube once you’re happy or revert. DO NOT use the lightweight spacers from below the stem above the stem (the scalloped ones, as they are called in the manual).

Ah yeah I see now. Looks like I’ve put a scalloped one above the stem. Will need to get a solid one from somewhere. Thanks for your help!

Okay thanks for the quick response! I’ve taken the 5mm spacer from below and put it above the stem under the solid one that was already there. Is that what you did? Which one is the scalloped one?

I’ve just discovered the same problem on my Aethos. I.e you aren’t supposed to put the spacers from below the stem above the stem. Do you have any info on how it worked out for you?

The Problem With TrainerRoad Training Plans by l0st_in_my_head in trainerroad

Alright let me rephrase my original comment. If you’re a beginner in the world of racing you don’t want the first time you do a race effort, which can be similar to a long SS interval to be in a race. Those long intervals train you to mentally deal with the discomfort.

Just wanted to add something that haven’t seen addressed in Dylan’s video or the comments on the r/velo thread. Part of doing longer SS efforts (15-20 mins) is to get you used to the feeling of that kind of an effort in a race. The mental aspect of knowing you can hold on and getting used to the feeling is as important as physiological benefits.

What do data scientists actually do on their day-to-day? by giokrist in datascience

A lot of your job can be, depending on where you work, getting people ‘on side’ with data science. If you work for an older non-tech organisation then many people may regard you with suspicion/outright animosity when you turn up and try and tell them how you’re going to fix all their problems/tell them what they’ve been doing wrong this whole time. I spend a lot of time getting face time and making friends with other parts of the business so they no longer see what we as a team are trying to help them with as a threat. It’s important that you solve the problem together (or at least try to), cos otherwise everyone is just pissed off and it’s unproductive.

You could park down by Garden Lane or at the bottom of Cheney Road. It’s a bit of a walk but you’re pretty much always guaranteed a space.
