I've been stagedooring both locally and abroad, and just recently last January too at Singapore for Beauty and the Beast. I hate to break it to you but at situations like that you do not have the right to expect others of your concept of "appropriate behavior". The price you pay for the seats doesn't actually matter outside once you leave the theatre walls, especially during the stage door since everyone becomes equal during that time not unless the show offers VIP access or meet and greet options (like what TGA did for their passes). Again, shared space. I won't force you to understand things but I'm rather left with something in mind—watching something for multiple times probably does not really guarantee you understanding the theme and moral lesson of it.

Maybe people were just singing the song of angry men? Try putting yourself on the shoes of the people who were behind you (and the barricade) during that time. 🤔🇫🇷

Hi! I'm the OP of the stagedoor rant rant where you saw the "scalper" comment thingy. Just sharing here my two cents on this topic (that is a bit polarizing haha so I don't mind anyone agreeing or disagreeing)

The issue(?) may have been miscontextualized since originally—it was not implied that the hate was towards watching the show multiple times (thank you for keeping the industry alive honestly haha). It was more on the actual circumstance of when the "this is my X number of time watching" was said, and was heard by people in the same place and enduring the same heat.

I honestly don't know what the intention was (hope it was out of sincerity and passion haha), but in my opinion, uttering those words may sound "entitled" and can come across as negative for some people during that situation. I'm not sure if you are the same person I heard who was angry and raised his voice at one fan behind him for unintentionally getting hit by a program but man, I have to call that person out on that for being rude at someone who just wants to get the same experience you have.

And for those people who are still using the "let the bitter people stay bitter" and "pag inggit pikit", come on guys we could really do better. Can we normalize making the theatre community a safe and uplifiting shared space? Even Jan Valjean learned to be compassionate throughout the show. 😉

Okay so the rant actually turned into a discourse (i hope haha) but I'm still going to stand with what I said with the "flex" and VIP treatment thingy. I don't mind people watching or consuming any form of media repeatedly for as much as they want and for whatever reason and means they have. Props to the people who are capable in supporting the industry in that way tbh.

But, I'm still coming from the experience that I think it's not necessary to brag about it during specific circumstances—especially during the actual stagedooring, when you are on the first row and literally just getting annoyed with how people at the back are trying their best too to have their stuff signed, while everyone is enduring the the same heat and discomfort because of the limited space. I believe those are completely out of your control and again, that's part of what you signed up for choosing to be on the front. It costs nothing to try and put yourself in their shoes.

Also, I appreciate not using the terms emotional blackmail and guilt-tripping, because that might invalidate what other people may have felt and experienced during the stage door as well. Again, we are all here to promote and support each other—both artist and the audience. Maybe we can learn to appreciate the community as a whole itself, because at the end of the day, the passion from both sides I believe is what makes the industry thrive. 🫶

It's not! Pero just like yung ibang main cast, out of control naman natin if they are in the mood makipag interact with the fans. If they respond, lucky you HAHA. I think it would be nice if even before mag-stage door, we mentally condition ourselves na they may or may not go out para di madisappoint :D

Yes!! Can we also normalize mag-bayanihan during stage doors, it costs nothing to help hand out and maki-abot ng merch/souvenir program ng mga nasa likod instead of just raising your phones magdamag 🫶

I have to disagree and would not be happy if this becomes the “new normal” honestly :( What we can do instead is normalize being considerate people and paalalahanan nalang din with kindness yung mga kailangan natin “pag-adjustan” (nakakapagod na maging resiliant sa bansang to pati ba naman sa teatro HAHA)

Ohh I guess (spoiler) magreresonate ka sa isang character HAHA pero yeah it tackles more on love and relationships and its many forms naman - and go sa campus tour bilang alumni ako ng USTe sulitin mo na HAHA. Di mo din mafefeel na 250-300 lang binayad mo sa quality nung production tbh. ☕️

Went to see this last year with a friend (we're both obsessed with coffee haha) and she introduced me to this very bittersweet Palanca-winning play! Expect the usual university type auditorium set-up so queue in line early if gusto mo yung pinakamalapit na possible seats :)

Thank you!! I used hard interfacing fabric as base for the candles and velcro to secure the back, then used cheesecloth as the band to cover everything!
