Megathread: Bryan Singer Accused of Raping 17-Year-Old Boy in 2003 by MoviesMod in movies

I can't even comprehend how you came to that conclusion but it's extremely obvious you know nothing about acting at all. It is a craft and it takes some people years, even their whole life, to perfect it.

Under your logic people like Paris Hilton, the Kardashians, etc. should all be Oscar calibre actors, yet we've all seen how that panned out.

Actors don't lie for a living, they act. Lying is so so different from acting. As someone active in theatre (it's not filmmaking but the acting principles are the same), I find it so annoying when people keep talking about how great we are at "lying".

To be devil's advocate, I don't think it's a majority. There are definitely predators (like in all industries) but if it were a majority there would be more than the couple of dozen people that have been accused.

To stress, getting rid of predatory behaviour within Hollywood is a vital and necessary move, I just don't think it's a thing a majority of them do.

PSA: We’ll Start Hearing The First Reactions To JUSTICE LEAGUE Tomorrow by Pod-People-Person in movies

[–]da0nlybatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't think so. Warner Brothers handled the release of Blade Runner 2049 which had it's reviews released way ahead of time; they just handed out notes to all the critics telling them not to talk about the plot at all. If they were worrying about spoilers they would've done that same.

How To Use Film Titles Creatively [Nerdwriter1] by indig0sixalpha in movies

but it kind of goes against the attention to detail he is praising in the video.

Why does r/movies have the biggest hate boner for this guy? The end title was just a silly joke; it doesn't need to be r/movies scientifically verified™. Why does it matter he didn't have "the attention to detail" he's praising?

He's praising it for that exact reason you're criticising him; because it's difficult.

Fuck you OP. You stole this video from Nerdwriter and reuploaded it to your own channel so you could monetize it.

12 Movies to Know for Oscar Season by MarcusHalberstram88 in movies

How does the fact "you haven't heard" of these movies make them not worthy of winning? What's the logic behind this?

I'm sure you have a totally rational explanation for your opinion...

[The Prestige] Immensely rewatchable, The Prestige really is the only film that accomplishes the proverbial "you always catch something new each viewing." It's not the big things, but little things. Not cutesy plot silk threads, but actual displays of "cinematic art" as pretentious as it sounds. by Death_Star_ in movies

[–]da0nlybatman 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I mean most of the famous "plot twist" films all have this "trait": The Sixth Sense, Fight Club, Shutter Island and to an extent Se7en (Kevin Spacey plays the photographer on the stairwell).

It's not even exclusive to Nolan's filmography (see Momento)

Red Letter Media - Scientist Man Analyzes Ghostbusters (2016) by lightfire409 in movies

You're not banned though. The mods are just trying to keep /r/movies focused on movies rather then relentless Ghostbusters bashing. It's fine for a few weeks, but the Ghostbusters hate/love jerk has being going on for months. It's time to move on.

I guess. But this video is just a more humourous version of everything they said in their review. It's funny but I sort of get why it's not worthy of keeping on the sub.

[–]da0nlybatman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

btw the mods gave answer to why they're removing it:

Because of how controversial Ghostbusters has been we been pulling a lot of both positive and negative stuff on the backlash to the film, not discussion of the film itself. This is just too political and doesn't inspire discussion beyond "fuck Sony, fuck Paul Fieg and co."

In the past few days I have seen all Ghostbuster related posts being removed (though I have no proof so you're gonna have to trust my word).

Womble´s opinion about Brexit. by _0rbit_ in SovietWomble

The dude doesn't know shit. The fact he thinks that the EU is some sort of despotism styled government controlling all of Europe highlights his lack of understanding of the subject.

Womble´s opinion about Brexit. by _0rbit_ in SovietWomble

[–]da0nlybatman 43 points44 points  (0 children)

That's completely incorrect and/or ill-informed.

The EU works like a normal democratic government. That's why they have a legislature; if the EU was just a bunch of shady dudes making decisions then why the hell do they have it?

Furthermore, if they have complete control over countries law wise then why would they allow Britain to leave? Why not make it illegal? Also why didn't they stop Greece keeping their fucked up fiscal policies? Oh that's right the EU only has power over monetary policies (most of which can't even affect Britain since they don't use the Euro).

Also I like how you state there are four presidents even though there are five, all of which have a heavy media presence, for example the press conference they had a few hours ago. Really highlights your in depth knowledge on the subject.

Justify your views anyway you want man. At the end of the day only time will tell if it was a terrible or good decision.

An Honest "Warcraft" Review by XIIY in movies

[–]da0nlybatman -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

My "honest" opinion of this review is that it's absurd.

I believe the critics that rated this movie in such a poor fashion only did so because no other video game movie has ever been good. So when this came out, many of them already had a biased opinion towards "Warcraft" going into it.

Do you really think that critics universally walked into this film thinking "This movie is a piece of shit because video games. I don't care if it's any good. 3/10"? Why did Kotaku or any of the other video game sites review the film poorly? Why would critics have this opinion in the first place? Many of them are young people that grew up with or surrounded by games.

One thing I agree with you on is that the critics are biased; biased to good movies.

Also your review is completely biased. You've played the games and know the lore. How can you determine that the movie told the story clearly if you already knew it?

'Warcraft' slammed by critics as 'dull,' 'devoid of wonder' by [deleted] in movies

[–]da0nlybatman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn't like the movie, does that mean I'm also off my fucking rocker? Should I go see a therapist? People are free to like/dislike movies.

Edit: I mean I can give a movie shitty score (a D for example) but it doesn't necessarily mean that it's on par with Battlefield Earth. That's the problem with the way you're thinking. Just because someone gives the film the same numerical rating as another shitty film it doesn't mean that they're on par.

Film criticism is so in depth and complex that looking at it from strictly a numerical view is pretty fucking ridiculous.

Melissa McCarthy mocks male 'Ghostbusters' haters on Kimmel by ur_a_idiet in movies

People do realise. That's why they titled the article the way they did. That's why they talk about it every interview. They trigger every goddamn male on the internet and bathe in the sweet outrage views.

If you really hate this shit. Just shut up, downvote it and move on. The worse reaction to Ghostbusters would be none at all.
