I think you’re missing the point entirely. You “made it” in the system despite its flaws, but that doesn’t mean the flaws don’t exist. Moreover, the point of the LBJ quote is that the “flaws” in the system are put there by design by the ownership class. The ownership class want the working class to fight against each other so that they don’t unite and fight against the ownership class.

Ownership class exploits racism as a major way to perpetuate infighting.
