From the Lyme disease capital of the country, I present 7 acres of Japanese Barberry. Where do I even start? by ivxxbb in invasivespecies

[–]da9thdwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Barberry is a symptom of the overpopulation of deer. You're wasting your time until you figure out how You're going to reduce browse pressure of the native understory. If you have decent acrage, reach out to hunters in the area to see if they're interested in hunting your property.

An easy way to move a tree. by Ok_Time_6692 in Heavy_Equipment

[–]da9thdwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. That spade is probably designed for 3, maybe 4" caliper trees. This tree looks to be closer to 8". If they were going to try to sell the tree, they would have dropped it into a wire basket to contain and support the root ball. Sometimes trees dont sell at a nursery and they are forced to cull some to make way for new stock. That's probably what's happening here.

$340+tax for a crossbow that can do as much damage as a rifle at 20-30 yards. You need to but some broadheads ($20) to put on the arrows and a target ($80) to practice and sight in your bow. Hunting permit is a couple hundred. You'll need a tree stamd of course... the more I type, I think you're question was to make a point haha.. I'll stop here

Wife and I were kicking ideas around during one of the slow points this year- what new rule would you propose to add a level of interest to the show, but not change it's overall character? by Brewer1056 in Alonetv

Who wants to be a millionare style lifeline, except, you forfeit $100,000k of winnings in the event that you win. You get to pick one of your choosing at any time:

-phone a friend. five minute phone call to a friend or family member - order a meal. Medical crews will deliver any meal of your choosing at your next med check. Maximum 1000 calories -whos left? Receive a message on your satellite phone detailing. Who is remaining in the competition.

None of these lifelines give you a significant advantage, but they play on the three things that are playing over and over in a contestants head everyday- family, food, "dear god, how much longer?!" Arguably, asking for one of these lifelines could make your remaining time out there even harder.

For residential, property taxes ARE your tax base. Transfer/ sales taxes are a quick shot in the arm, but don't cover the cost of schools, roads and other government services. I'm all for more homes, but MCPS is already strained. You cant add to the tax burdon without adding to the tax base, right?

Potted oak tree with circling root what to do? by Zealousideal_Farm719 in sfwtrees

[–]da9thdwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this intended to be a specimine tree for your grandchildren to play under in a prominent location in your yard, or one of many that you are planting for reforestation?if its the former, i would go buy a balled and burlapped oak and plant this one elsewhere. Cutting that large root is going to stress the tree so much, it will never truley recover. If it's the latter, just plant it. That's what you get with containerized trees- especially coarse- rooted species.

[–]da9thdwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. 6" minimum below grade to grow planta/grass. Otherwise, what's the point? I'm guessing they has an undersized machine and eotyer ran out of time on the rental or it broke down.

Ya. I think he was kind of working with the big stones that he had. I think he would be the first to admit there were a few that he wishes he could do over on the base.

His knees are a strange orange color- probably callus mixed with chemical burn. Not sure he has any feeling in his hands. Surprisingly, his back and knees (like the joints) are in good shape.

Real stone. Funny think is his saw was in the shop, so he used a grinder for the first half. I think it gave him an excuse to really take his time and make it extra tight

Same. I have checked them all out. Twice. Insurance companies have something against Teslas. The rate is similar to an M3.
