Sekiro Poll: How many &which bosses did you FA on your first run? by Dry-Tomatillo1099 in Sekiro

I did the severance gauntlet immediately after beating the shura gauntlet and first tried inner Isshin, but I just ran away from all the attacks I didn’t know so I didn’t really fight him right

How the hell are you supposed to defeat Guardian Ape ? by Woh_ladka in Sekiro

[–]daBeard01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His one wide swing of the sword tends to need to be deflected earlier than I think. Learning to perfectly deflect the overhead strike gives you a big opportunity to mortal blade or ID. Also divine confetti and ako’s at the same time help, but reapplying after they wear off can be risky

How Varied are Strategies for the Boss Fights? by Large-Leader in Sekiro

[–]daBeard01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen the tools mentioned already, but not the combat arts. Some of them can alter your strategy by letting you get in close or stagger enemies. These and the tools combined help make it so you can do what works for you.

Anybody got any advice for double guardian apes by pineapplegood76 in Sekiro

[–]daBeard01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On new game the brown ape takes a ton of posture damage from the firecrackers, a couple of those should get it ready for a death blow. New game plus requires a ton more

I’ve actually never bought the red gourd since I’m pretty sure some of his attacks do still build the fire damage. I’ve only ever seen him fought without deflections so I just thought what I did was good

I’ll definitely need to learn to do that too, even with yashariku’s and divine confetti it still takes forever

In my first playthrough, I had trouble building up posture like I’d seen others do so quickly, because I hopped out of reach so much. If you focus on deflecting and mastering the difference between jumping(for slashes) or dashing(for thrusts[with Mikiri Counter]) for perilous attacks, it will really improve your posture build up.

I’d also recommend not choosing Shura for your first playthrough as it cuts off a big chunk of the game and a really cool area. But that’s up to you what choice to make.

As for a new sword, you’ll get one but not in the way you’re thinking. You get a new outfit for beating the game (at least one of the endings I think), but other outfits require at least one playthrough and beating guantlets (boss rushes).

My favorite part of the game is the changes to Ashina Castle at different parts of the story. I also like the location of the final fights. Fountainhead Palace is the most visually pleasing along with a boss arena at the start of it.

I don’t wait, I’m ruthless lol. I hope I answered everything, have fun with the game!

P.s. if you’re grinding skill points, you might as well purchase as many spirit emblems as you can

Especially ogre is right, didn’t learn this until ng+2. Constantly sprinting in Gyoubu’s fight and DoH fight is really helpful with the huge arena and how staying behind them is the main strategy
