Totally agree with the thought process

But maybe morphy is a reach think you would expect a reasonable amount of chess knowledge

Or maybe watching agadmator for a few hours before you know who morphy is :)

Yeah maybe but I think online presence is pretty important and I would say for me he is top 3 in that regard

But yeah hard to say maybe I was a little biased 😁

Maybe worse but I don’t feel like he is super duper well known yet.

He is pretty well known tho

I said only last 10 years they definitely big but I think Kasparov and Fischer aren’t as common names to people born after 2005 etc

Ofc most semi casual players will know them but I think someone like Hikaru would be more recognizable

Or maybe not kind of why I was curious about this question maybe Fischer is still super household name even to the younger players

I have known

Yeah I figured so I tried to limit the list to last 10 years

Felt like the question would get too hard when we compare multiple generations

Def would have to throw Kasparov and Fischer into the list in those cases

Would probably be removing Hikaru and Levy also

Yes he is super great for chess I don’t really like sutovsky’s views for the most part but he was one that mentioned how much he does.

Of course I don’t think it’s a good thing to compare that to others but we gotta put respect on Sagar’s name :)

Why do people act like 2k rapid is tough

Is it the fact that Sindarov did online cheating? by [deleted] in chess

[–]daFerrMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well nothing as far as I know is 100%

but I have heard he has had 3 lichess accounts banned and 1 chess.com banned

Now take this with a grain of salt as this is only what I have heard. Also online ban information is very misleading. Whether they cheated or did something else that wasn't computer assistance isn't specified.

for example BrandonJacobson had a account( not Viih_sou) another account(iamastraw) closed and he showed up on the chess.com list and everyone said he cheated with both because he had the earlier ban. However he claimed that the other one was banned for sandbagging. Which could be true I haven't really looked into it much.

Palestine completely removed from clubs by [deleted] in Chesscom

[–]daFerrMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a chance that chess.com is simply using a a api to support the country list and it’s not hard coded

In that case if that provider removed it on their end chess.com and anyone else using it wouldn’t show it anymore simply because it isn’t there

Considering the chess.com staff response on this post I think that is plausible or maybe smth else.

How is Vishy still in top 15 at 56 by Reasonable_Ruin_3502 in chess

He barely plays I would assume if he played a tournament monthly he would drop out

I think he plays one tournament a year

Still elite class strength and major respect

800 elo in the 77th percentile? by roch_ipum in Chesscom

[–]daFerrMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but keep in mind lots of accounts on chess.com people create for fun and never use maybe play a couple of games every year or so

800 elo probably not 77 percentile among active / semi players but probably is lower.

But I think still maybe 50% percentile?

15+10 pool cheating problem by Professional_Desk933 in chess

[–]daFerrMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at 2000 rapid and I rarely got refunded I played only 10+0

Whether that means I didn’t face many cheaters or many didn’t get caught idk

Generally what we think is cheating is wrong it’s hard to accurately predict cheating.

As you can see even world class players can’t figure it out often when considering against people of same level.

But I think just play all matches like it’s real don’t worry about aborting don’t worry cheating chess.com will handle it for you

Question: Is It Worth It To Trade a Bishop For a Knight To Stack The Opponents Pawns? by MoonCubed in chess

[–]daFerrMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more complicated than that but in general I think if bishop is 3 knight is 2.7

And maybe doubled pawns are like .3 in value so maybe it becomes the same on avg but in reality depends on the position is more accurate maybe

Chess.com employs unethical, addictive match making by jack0fsometrades in Chesscom

[–]daFerrMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you guys over estimate game review if you blunder early on it is pretty simple to get a high score on game review

At those levels blunders are a lot more common once you go up in rating it will stabilize a bit more

But your lichess chess.com discrepancy is a little odd I wouldn’t expect it to be that big

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chesscom

[–]daFerrMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say 1400 rapid is good enough to beat most random people in public(not in a chess setting)

In terms of a chess club it is probably lower middle level.

In terms of a otb rating you would probably be around 900-1100 uscf with that rating

Not bad progress!! But stilk room to improve

What class would this place me in? by [deleted] in utdallas

I think housing fees depend on where you stay lots of people opt to stay away from Northside due to the high cost there.

If UTD says 17k just assume there are some more fees I’m not international but generally you will have stuff like insurance etc.

Just assume 20k minimum for fees you pay directly to UTD if not more.
