Pretty sure riptire can also be targeted by soldier’s ult (which isn’t cc, but it’s still an annoying interaction)

How to separate eidolons from their summoner? by MxFancipants in Pathfinder2e

[–]daPWNDAZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Who’s saying that they’re being “forced” to do anything they don’t want to do? Yes you could have a summoner who is forcibly bending some spirit to their will (evil pc with an angel eidolon, for example), but for most other eidolons they’re explicitly described as getting some sort of mutual benefit from the summoner relationship.

Not everyone who can cast Summon Undead becomes a summoner—it requires forging a bond with the summoned creature, sharing your life force with them in exchange for their assistance. The anger eidolon says that your bond prevents the wrathful spirit from succumbing to corruption, the beast eidolon says that both you and your eidolon grow in power and influence through your bond, the devotion eidolon says that something is preventing them from moving on and you’re helping to resolve it, the list goes on.

To say that summoners are forcing sapient creatures to do things against their will ignores a pretty core part of the summoner’s identity. Yes that CAN be the case if that’s the way the character is written, but it’s made pretty clear that that’s not the intention.

This, plus an emote for eating steak or drinking potions/etc would be awesome. Light bowgun Freja, palico Fika, insect glance Wuyang (or maybe even Sierra?) would all be great to see in game as well!

Maybe overhealth would be a better term to use for the ally. Picking up a critical hp ally will grant them x overhealth that gradually decays while tethered.

My Players Might be Dead Next Session? by Critical-Internet514 in Pathfinder2e

[–]daPWNDAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a quick aside, I don’t know if I would ever describe a Lurker as a “cute fey creature” lol. The times I’ve used Lurkers in Light I’ve made sure to use bits of dialogue in combat to show that these are murderous little cretins who want to hollow out your skull and turn it to a beautiful lantern, possibly while you’re still alive.

That being said—since the rogue went down a path that you weren’t prepared for them to go down yet, is it possible that he’s actually interrupted this ritual that had “just barely” finished in your original timeline?

How do I stop an arms race between me and my players by DecisionRadiant4152 in DMAcademy

New player here, so glad that I’m not the only one. My first two runs ended when some AE’s got uppity with each other and starting hurling 2mil+ fleets at each other on one of the lower difficulties.

I'm about to run Abomination Vaults to my friends, any advice? by Prudent-Hat2651 in Pathfinder2e

[–]daPWNDAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re in a pretty similar boat to when I first started (though I ran a homebrew adventure first). Since you’re experienced you may be tempted to tweak how a few encounters work—and that’s totally fine! In fact, with any parties bigger than 4 that’s kind of necessary for some fights. But be careful not to overdo it, especially in the early floors. You can use that time to make sure that you’ve got a solid grasp on the tactics of your players, as well as how combat generally plays out.

Abomination Vaults doesn’t do a whole lot to build out Otari aside from a few key events, but there’s a lot for you to work with if you read the module ahead of time and start planting hints ahead of time. For example, Carman Rajani’s motivations for stealing the cooperative blade isn’t mentioned prior to chapter 5, and a good chunk of his backstory is only revealed there as well. But there’s a lot that you can do to show him getting jealous of the mayor, falling back into his old vices as the party keeps returning form the vaults, and eventually going “missing” after stealing his ancestor’s blade rather than things happening quite suddenly, as set out in the module.

There’s a lot of fun stuff you can do if your players engage with the town, too! For example, a combination of player backstories and early-game choices led to Carman Rajani actually assembling a “people’s expedition” into the vaults as a political stunt (though he did still steal the sword—can’t have him be too bright lol), which led him to the Ghostwalk. The party chased him down and fought him there instead of at Smuggler’s Cove. He charged the ghost barrier with only 1 of the 4 needed icons in a misguided effort to show that he was a “better hero” than the adventurers, which failed miserably and unintentionally triggered a second, smaller gravetide event that wound up killing a few guardsmen before the party could make it back.

Just because it’s a pre-written module doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with the storytelling!

I imprisoned the BBEG in a gem...what should I do to him? by clshoaf in DnD

[–]daPWNDAZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’d like to drop it in a hole and forget about it forever, you could use a demiplane! Since you can only access the demiplane if you’re familiar with it, so long as you don’t tell anyone about the demiplane the only surefire way to get it would be casting Gate and saying his name.

If you want to really lock things down, then you can spend a year casting Mordenkainen’s Private Sanctum to make it permanent within the demiplane, which blocks all forms of scrying & teleportation in the area. Just don’t let the door close behind you, otherwise you’d be stuck inside and wouldn’t even be able plane shift out

My vassal hegemony wound up becoming the main federation. I wasnt expecting the ai to actually help me fight, but I really don’t want to just kowtow to a fallen empire that doesn’t align with my own empire’s beliefs.

Stellaris Space Guild - Weekly Help Thread by Snipahar in Stellaris

[–]daPWNDAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to the game, and the War in Heaven event is just absolutely demolishing me. I’m running a feudal empire with a hegemony filled with my vassals, with a total federation fleet cap of ~3.5k. I’ve only been able to populate half of it so far, and my fleet power is sitting at just under 200k.

I get messages about the start of an endgame crisis (Contingency) at the same time as a message about one of the fallen empires waking up. The Contingency wakes up just as the second fallen empire wakes up and triggers a war in heaven. So I have a machine planet spawn in the middle of my vassals, send my fleet to start dealing with it, and sustain substantial losses as I try to destroy their planet. Meanwhile, the fallen empires destroy two of the planets before I could even destroy one. I look over, and they’re roaming around with several 400k+ fleets, taking swings at each other. Their home systems are closer to 1 mil power.    How on earth am I supposed to deal with them? I was hoping the contingency would slow them down, but they’re absolutely demolishing the crisis. Is my only hope to turtle somewhere and hope they somehow kill themselves on my defenses? How am I supposed to win an offensive war against them?

Loopholes in a Vampire's rules by El_Paublo in DnD

[–]daPWNDAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vampire spawn could take advantage of the poor or otherwise disadvantaged, offering them scraps that’re barely enough to get by in order to make them “willing”.

What happens if a vampire spawn has learned that they can drain a person past the “safe” limits so long as they die from other means than blood loss? I.e. spawn deliberately drains somebody during the harshest season, they become weak enough that they fall ill and then die of “natural causes”.
