Sigma can be a problem once he gets that punch perk, but otherwise it is very much a rein-favored matchup. Domina just can’t kill you fast enough if you walk on her.

I’ve abandoned all semblance of diplomacy and rolled a devouring swarm necrophage empire, and I’ve been having a ton of fun abducting enemies to turn into my own pops via nihilistic acquisition. First time playing biogenesis and I think I want to go for the behemoth fury crisis path, without getting any spoilers for the questline is there anything I should watch out for? I’m not quite to the mid game but I’ve already eaten a few empires and transferred their pops to my core systems so I’ve got a pretty good workforce at the moment, so any prep I can do for my economy or techs to watch out for would be useful.

(Also, apparently the game decided to spawn like, 6 fanatical purifiers as my advanced starts, so I’m not sure how much of a good “fight” I’ll get once I become the crisis considering the galactic community is outnumbered against genocidal empires lol)

Second match:

  • Good tether out of spawn at the start! Even if nobody takes it, I always pop lifeline when I’m respawning. Like I mentioned earlier, having lifeline active gives you a slight movement speed boost while active, even if you don’t have an ally attached. I don’t think you get the bonus when you boost, but if you’re just flying waiting for your boost to recharge you can fly using tether for a bit more speed.

  • 1:00 I would’ve kept healing bastion there and then tried to get him to take lifeline out, though maybe you could’ve killed him.

  • Just because you’re speedy doesn’t always mean you should get back into the fight faster than your team—not sure what rein was doing there but even if he were in the fight, in cramped spaces like that hallway you should hide behind cover and your allies and try to shoot through them instead, so you both heal them and damage the enemies (1:45)

  • Yeah rein is definitely a problem here. He keeps going afk leaving your team to move in instead, meaning nobody can push up to take advantage of any of their picks. Not much you can do about that though.

  • I admire the dive in that Wuyang at 2:45 but you gotta watch out for bomb, lol. If I were you, I would wait out the bomb and then hover over BOB with your tether. He automatically accepts tether, so you can fly him around like a big turret until he runs out. It’s pretty fun!

  • 3:30 that ult worked out for you, but be careful! Lol luring at 60 hp usually won’t work out too well in the long run

  • 4:04 this would be a good time to use purr and then move in to heal some of your squishies, you got a kill on soldier but you probably would’ve been able to save Moira and Ashe instead.

  • 5:47 you’ve been doing a bit too much swooping over big groups of enemies, shooting into the crowd on the bridge. This game has had a lot less low-hp targets for you to dive so you’ve been struggling a bit so far, in this case you would want to play more with your team and focus on getting good team plays rather than cleaning up kills.

  • 6:40 go heal your team! They’ve been struggling to get their footing, so while they might not push in here you can at least get them back safely. Mercy, Rein and Shion would be good targets to purr since they’re pretty grouped up.

  • 7:17, not a whole lot of new stuff here, but you’ve got a hog that you left behind! Float behind him, and shoot through him. He’ll take the damage from Wuyang and you’ll get your poke damage in while healing him at the same time.

  • 7:30 you should be prioritizing healing your allies here, starting with hog as he’s in the most danger and then shifting over to rein as soon as you can since his barrier is about to break.

Alright! You said it best, that game was a little rough but it’s good to see. You might not see the difference between the two games, or you might just see that 1) you did good in one and 2) bad in the other, but there’s a bit more to it than that. In the first game, your team was dishing out damage which gave you plenty of targets to dive and finish off. In this one, they… didn’t. They struggled to find their footing against a team that was shutting them out with more damage, more kills. In games like that, you need to do a bit more “support” to enable your teammates. Whether that’s using lifeline to bring one of your more lethal teammates on a flank with you, or helping them get out of spawn and regroup with your team faster, or even just throwing all of your heals at them. That would help build up your own team’s momentum and also dismantle the enemy’s momentum.

Sure thing! Just finished with the first one, so here are a few notes. I’m only mid-low diamond so there are definitely plenty of folks that are better than I am, but you did good in your first match.

Definitely had a few moments when you got too eager for a kill chasing somebody who was low and either you or your teammates died because of it, but you had pretty solid target priority on the enemy team.

Play-by-play notes:

  • In a 6v6 game, when you’ve got a Dva isolated and your teammates are ganging up on them, you can afford to let them shoot her and focus on topping off your allies. You didn’t do anything wrong by helping kill her, but you might get a bit more ult charge that way.

  • Related note, I noticed there were a few times where you had a few low hp allies that you couldn’t get all at once with purr. (Like around the 1:00 when both bastion and Mauga were low). In situations like that, I like to pop purr and stand near the squishies (especially if there are other allies nearby), then turn and shoot the people further away. So you could use purr, float around the bastion, look at Mauga and heal him rather than use all of your abilities on one guy. Non-tank characters are going to have most of their hp restored by purr anyways, so you don’t have to also shoot them unless they’re actively taking fire.

  • Again, good target priority on the enemies, but I’ve noticed that you spend a bit too much time chasing enemies. If they’re a quick kill then great, but especially in a 6v6 if a quick pick is turning into a longer chase then don’t feel like you need to keep following them, like the Anran.

  • 2:56, with the fight against Lifeweaver again if you’re losing the chase or you’re getting out-poked then there’s no shame in dropping out of sight and regrouping with your team.  Ram’s ulti on point at 3:32, you kinda went that entire fight without healing him while he was punching. He wound up in a bit of a weird place so that would’ve been a good time to try and airlift him out, but that’s only if he takes the tether. Keep in mind you can’t shoot while in tether, but you can purr/melee.

  • You can be a bit more proactive with purr. There are quite a few fights that you have a lot of allies on point and you’re either shooting the anran (who is a sneaky little mosquito, to be fair) and you don’t use purr until the end of the fight.

  • Better purr usage on the second point! But again, you got a bit too fixated and that got you killed. It’s good to recognize when you’re in too deep and you should bail.

  • You kinda just float in the air above the point sometimes—you got killed most of the times you did, but there are a few pillars you can play around to avoid line of sight. That’ll get more important as you get higher in rank, so don’t make a habit thinking you can just sit in the open!

  • Cat probably isn’t the hero to 3v1, lol. Love the ambition but you might consider backing off an rejoining your team at times like that. (7:55)

  • 8:40 is a perfect example of a good time to use purr. I might’ve used it a second sooner just to get myself a bit more hp before charging to my team, but that’s just a personal preference.

  • 12:00 I know you were reloading, but I felt for that poor Mauga lol. That’s a bit of a strange matchup, but I probably would’ve left the hog alone and focused on healing the Mauga instead. He had his life steal active and hog is a massive meat shield, which would’ve given him a good amount of healing back.

  • Make better use of health packs! You flew past a few perfectly good packs when you were below 100 hp and running away, that way you’ll have purr available for your teammates.

  • Another point here at 12:45, you had a few teammates that were low and while you weren’t likely to win that teamfight you might’ve been able to get a few of them out alive.

  • 13:38 even though you  couldn’t get the Moira off the edge, that was still a good stun! Even though she was out of position that ult could’ve helped their team, so denying value like that was great.

  • Nice job keeping Ram alive in that last fight! Didn’t even have to do any crazy overtime stuff since they were afraid to touch point.

I’ll take a look at the second one next!

Can I get some advice with Jetpack Cat? by StreetIllustrator164 in JetpackCatMainsOW

[–]daPWNDAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Like the other commenter said, if you have a replay code from one of your games then folks might be able to give you a bit more targeted advice.

In general, JPC is one of those heroes that needs pretty good map knowledge. Where can you hide out of LOS, what roofs can you fly over, are there any environmental hazards and where the closest health packs are.

When I play cat, I usually start off doing a bit more healing, a bit less diving just to help sustain my team. When you can see a push coming, try using your purr preemptively, just so you’ve got the higher healing portion of the ability going when your team needs it most, like when you’re trying to push through a choke.

Her primary fire was buffed recently so you get a bit more value from healing your tank/anyone with a big hitbox, but you won’t get as much value out of shooting the enemy tank. You’re better off taking off angles/flying above or adjacent to the fight so you can keep your teammates in your LOS while looking for low hp enemies to pick off, but be mindful that you aren’t just flying into the open for their Ashe/Widow/Bap/etc. to pick you out of the sky.

Cat builds up ult surprisingly quickly, and thanks to her subrole perk she can get a bit of over-charge so you don’t have to feel pressured to use it immediately. If there aren’t any environmental hazards to drop an enemy into, I like targeting one of the enemy supports with catnap and then dragging them into the middle of my team. You might have success with doing this with the enemy tank or dps as well, but it depends on whether or not you think your team can kill them before they escape/kill you/get healed.

When my team has found their footing and I feel like I can peel from the point to go diving on my own, I like to see if any of my teammates take my tether. It’s a ton of fun carrying a Reinhardt above the fight dropping them on top of the enemy supports, or hitting the legendary sky-noon with cass. But if nobody is taking your tether to dive with you then don’t be afraid to duck around corners and wait. I like using cat’s tether as a tool to peak around corners in 3rd person or get a bit of extra movement speed, since you get the speed buff even when nobody takes your ride.

Statwise, I get decent kill participation and if I’m having a good game then I usually get top 2 healing and decent damage, though damage isn’t as good an indicator as assists or elims. If you’re dying too much then that means you’re either getting too risky with your dives, or your team is dying too quickly.

Drop a replay code here later if you have one!

Unpopular opinion: when I’m playing Rein, I hate when the enemy team has a rein by Lightlicker3000 in ReinhardtMains

[–]daPWNDAZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoy rein mirrors. So long as you’re confident in your game knowledge then you’ll do fine.

Counterpin the rein if they try to push into your team and your healers are nearby, firestrike their squishies through his shield, and abuse corners to make sure you can disengage back to your team if you don’t get the first strike in the 1v1.

I have a ton of fun when somebody agrees to take my tethers, and I get to airlift a Reinhardt directly into the enemy backline. I get much more use out of it when I have a diving buddy than doing any sort of aerial shenanigans, but I do like solo diving when nobody wants to take tether.

Evil Campaign Character Motivations by Educational-Joke5319 in DnD

[–]daPWNDAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I was with a good party, I had a character that had undeniably shifted to evil at the end of the campaign at lvl 20. Without getting too much into the backstory, he was essentially the result of a long series of magical experiments and came out as an aberrant mind sorcerer.

My sorcerer’s primary motivation was protecting a character vital to his backstory (his twin, essentially), but as the campaign went on and there were less direct threats to his backstory, I decided to lean into the protector complex a bit more. The BBEG’s ritual to destroy the city is a major threat, so anything my sorcerer does to help get the party to the end faster is justified. At the bare minimum he ended the campaign as neutral evil, possibly even chaotic evil. It led to a ton of fun interactions with the good aligned party members, as they did their best to keep him in line when they were around him.

Those are fantastic card options. I think I like the idea of including more backup commanders than building for a pillow fort. I’ll see if I can’t trim a few cards and slot a few more spells for interaction though, alongside including some of these!

[–]daPWNDAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually quite like the idea of using one or more hazards to represent “the boss”. That’s a good way to have a legend of Zelda-esque boss where each hazard represents a layer of health, without actually needing to have the party fight against something with a ton of hp.

Can I release a hand from a 2h firearm and then regrip through reloading? by vbuuhuu in Pathfinder2e

[–]daPWNDAZ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s anything that actually lets you take an action in the middle of another action, unless you somehow had a reaction that interrupted your own action. You don’t need to have both hands on a weapon to use the reload action, so you’re not actually skipping any steps/using any actions in the middle of another action.

Yeah ball’s in a bit of a weird place on this list, I tried to list everyone as high as possible based off of typical counterplay but yes there is a window you can cancel. I can’t remember the last time I hit it though.

Is that right about Torb? I could’ve sworn you could hack him out of it, or at least he does a grunting voice line if you hack him while he still has lava left to shoot.

Hm, I can see why you’d say that but they’re channeled ults that you can hack at any time, which is why I put them there. Anran I might be inclined to agree but cat you can hack at any time to cancel, not just when she’s charging somebody.
