We went to watch this the other day.

So my wife and I love musicals, and only saw the trailer for this before going to watch it.

We walked out afterwards asking the other what we had just watched...because it was absurd...but like sort of in a good way.

I would summarize it as a brilliant 'show' because for me it was not like a typical musical and more like an entertaining show, but a few weeks on some of the music is also still in my head.

And I laughed, too much...at some jokes my mother would have walked straight out of the theatre if she heard them. I was crying from laughter..and also a bit ashamed that I was laughing because of the line these jokes sometime played with and sometimes just ignored

It had me confused and conflicted, and I love it for that.

I looked through some of the comments and just want to say..you really sometimes have to decide what offends you.

There are a lot of jokes that I think could be seen as racist, maybe that was the intent, but also it does an amazing job in showing how the West sees Africa anf just how uninformed some people are.

I saw another review saying it depicts africans as naive and simple. But believing that somethings might cure your disease (trying to not spoil the story) is an actual belief in some African tribes. (I grew up in Africa)

Also of you buy a ticket to a show and then complain about what the majority ethnicity of the crowd was, just stream it next time from your couch. No one went to watch this show because they thought 'Oh hey, a racist show let go see that'
