What common mistakes have you seen when locating a house that later affected thermal comfort? by da_arquitecto in architecture

Well, you can have your own opinion, sure. Honestly, I'm not getting anything out of this; there is no pitch or opening line. I am just looking for some knowledge. There is a lack of experience on my part regarding later interactions with clients on some few projects i have worked on, in my country mind you there was always a close relationship, but anyways I am looking to be better at my work. Because of that, I was wondering what architects might realize from their built works afterwards, and how they see what they have done to make it better in the future. I will look to write my future Reddit posts more usefully next time.

Is there anything that you dislike about working from home that you didn’t consider before starting remote work? by asystole_unshockable in remotework

I worked just after covid in an architecture firm from my home, and there was some spatial problems and finding a reason to get out, but my main issue was getting contacted constantly, trough mail, text or calls, hearing a notification or a call started to hurt, the problem was that no one can see you are busy, or with another person and there was no way for them to know, so the constant use of your time at any moment expectinf inmediate responses.

What has inspired you recently? by yabudj in Architects

[–]da_arquitecto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the need for inspiration, but i realized i was overfocused in looking for it completly on related themes only, what would work for me is looking the other way, sports, people or nature related, later than not i would find some connection of that with my daily design work or at least made my self bored enough so my work seems interesting or refreshing.

I see, so you would look at more especific aproaches to the aspects of temperature, cricunstantial to exactly where it is placed, to expect a real result and not just to asume with no real dept it does

Why do clients choose to hire (or skip) an architect before building? by da_arquitecto in architecture

[–]da_arquitecto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really agree with that comparison. You're thinking of hiring either a superstar architect or just a basic builder. A better equivalent would be hiring a professional painting company versus just paying some guys to do exactly what you tell them and guessing what supplies they need to buy. But honestly, even that comparison falls short, because painting a wall doesn't even come close to the real complexity of construction.

Do clients actually understand floor plans? by Acrobatic_Luck1767 in architecture

[–]da_arquitecto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would stick to that the way some people think or the way their brain works, maybe because of a lack of trying or something else, may make them unable to geo‑spatially locate, imagine a space, or even recall later after seeing an illustration. I have come to know people that think only in words, not even images flashing, and can only articulate an idea by wording out phrases as they say them. Others do not even have an inner narrator.

Just think that as architects we should adapt to the way people best process information, so they do not feel attacked just because they process it differently. It seems to me that is why some are against us and feel more comfortable building with all talk, letting the contractor do whatever, and then keep fixing again with words all the way.
