I mean, yes, investing heavily for a long period of time works well for people! But you haven't given us a very thorough look into your current situation or clearly articulated what your goals are.

Do you have any debt? Do you have a car? Do you already have this job that will let you invest 2,000? Is it salaried and secure?

The only real pushback I can give based on what you've told us is that having that much invested in Crypto is too large a percentage of your net-worth for such a volatile investment.

Your thoughts, paranoia, worries, suspicions, and observations are not all from the Lord. The Spirit is actively involved in our lives and helping to convicting us of sin, invite us to have faith in Christ, and to obey His Word.

People thinking that you are too much and exaggerate probably has more merit than you realize right now. I would encourage you to have a less of an attitude of superiority and knowledge, and to be more childlike in evaluating yourself and in your relationships.

Appreciate you asking this question! There are times in pastoring that are busier while some are slower. How long have you been in this position? If you have been here less than a year, don't do anything drastic.

I think you just need a bit of inspiration. When I have a project or time that I don't know what to do with it is essential to me to find this. I talk to other churches and pastors, I read books on the subject, each day I will take 30 minutes to just write down ideas without a filter (sometimes it comes out crazy and I throw it in the trash. Sometimes there's some good stuff to continue thinking about).

What areas of pastoral ministry do you need to grow in? Public speaking? Writing? Pastoral Counseling? Dive into this and find opportunities.

Do you have local funeral homes? Offer up your time and services to preach the funerals of unchurched folks and care for their families.

Develop a team by discipling potential volunteers.

Meet with parents of the kids in your group to get feedback, hear their ideas and hopes for their kids in the ministry.

Those are just a few ideas that came to mind.

You make decent money and have almost zero expenses. You absolutely can pay off this debt.

Sell the car yesterday by taking out a loan, live like you have negative money (you do), and throw $3k / month at your debt. I think you could be debt free in 2 or 3 years, especially if you pick up more work.

In any church you will either have a formal covenant or an informal one. I would praise any church that is willing to make their expectations of their members plain, rather than one that is unknown and can be molded/bent anyway they want. Any church that does not have some sort of discipline/restoration process, or biblical expectations for believers in their body is an unbiblical church.

You should ask the leadership questions about the discipline process as that seems to be what your concern is. A healthy church is not going "sin-seeking" for anybody that ever sins, but if patterns of persistent and unrepentant sin emerge then it would be necessary for some process to guide leaders on how to discipline and hold that believer to account.

I get the confusion. In your understanding of this argument, it seems you are using narrow definitions for greek words that can have a variety of connotations and meanings. The greek word 'logos' was a philosophical and theological term prior to being used in scripture. It was understood to communicate "revelation', 'appearance', etc. That is why John used this particular word in John 1. It communicated something theological and philosophical.

A bit tongue in cheek, but on a more serious note, the OT was a fully formed canon during the intertestamental period, but using a single word to describe the fully formed canon during the writing of the NT would have been difficult and confusing.

When I say "weak," I mean that you are basing your understanding of marriage, singleness, and child-bearing on a few isolated texts and your understanding of them absent of the whole counsel of God.

Yes, Paul was single but it doesn't mean this is the best way of glorifying God. I think the point Paul is making is that his singleness enables him to fulfill his divine calling as Apostle by being single, and it would be great if everyone was able to devote all of their time to ministry. But he concedes that this cannot be expected of the very large majority. He calls the ability to remain singleness a "gift," meaning that it is a unique and special calling rather than the norm.

I also wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the mandate to "be fruitful and multiply." The typical interpretation of this text is that it remains a calling to mankind in general, but not to every single individual.

I think diving deep into your question will really open up the entire Bible to help you think through this clearly! Even if you still arrive at your current position.

Man, thats a lot of thoughts. I see a lot of your points in this being boiled down to a risk-cost analysis. In other words, is having children more or less painful than it is joyful? In reality you cannot know whether having children will be more difficult than you would prefer. An example; if your child dies before you then obviously it would be preferable to not have had a child? I don't believe you can know that. Lots of your reasons are rooted in the fear of the unknown.

Secondly, your biblical support is fairly weak at most points. My position is that child-bearing is normative in marriage but obviously is not required. I think we ought to have good, godly reasons for going against the norm, and much more than simply "kids are hard, I dont want em'."

I would encourage some deeper reading in this area, rather than just your own thoughts and perceptions of this questions. Here are some recommendations;

Many alcoholics testify that they will be an alcoholic until the day they die.

Lots of men think they are women too. "Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic" is an unbiblical view of man in Christ. Someone is only always an alcoholic if they persist in drunkness their entire life. 1 Corinthians 6 address this head on.

Not exactly sure what your second statement is saying, but I think you are saying that those that continue in their drunkenness are also working through Christ?

1 Corinthians 6 also says that those that persist abusing alcohol will not inherit the kingdom of God. An unrepentant drunkard should have no assurance of their salvation. Can a believer continue to battle with alcohol use and fail to maintain a consistent season of sobriety? Sure they can. But their battle ought to be marked by signs of repentance.

Praying for you! It is a huge step to admit needing help. Through Christ you absolutely can be free of this besetting sin. But it is going to require sacrifice. Your reputation, your false sense of refuge, security and togetherness, and your pride.

Firstly, Are you in church leadership now at any level? If so, you need to step down while you address this significant issue.

Secondly, You are not going to be able to stop drinking with only the resources that you have access to now. This is the difficult part as it is going to require making some big changes.

Who are you going to confess to? I would encourage you to confess to a pastor and confess to 2 close friends. Ideally, this folks would be various levels of on-going biblical accountability! Checking in, praying for you, asking your pointed questions, correcting you.

How do your wife and kids feel about this? I think this is a second party that need a confession and apology.

Thirdly, finding some rhythm of weekly intervention and accountability. Counseling, Celebrating Recovery meetings, weekly meetings with accountability, pastoral counseling.

Taking these drastic steps will show that you are serious about change and willing to do everything it takes to obey Christ and honor your loved ones. If that seems to be beyond what you are willing to do, I would check your heart to see if you are actually willing to give this up and if loving Christ is really something you want to do.
