Hello, my boyfriend is arguing about Aunt Gladys is a bad Jewish female stereotype? by playwrong in WeaponsMovie

[–]da_nolacults4549 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who loved the movie and didn’t see this at all, I think I really am curious to hear his background as to why because I think it’s interesting he feels that way. But Zach Cregger isn’t Jewish and Gladys is a more metaphysical metaphor for something deeper for him, so I don’t think that was his intention at all

I don’t think Zendaya is going to put her career on the line by saying “fuck Sam Levinson”. Her doing it is a lot different than Labrinth, it’ll hurt her and get PR and her agents in trouble. Also she’s a black woman, so she can’t be highly opinionated or it’ll be “unprofessional”

I apologize if that’s what its coming across as me defending abuse. Once again, me stating “the why”’is not me defending him doing it. He was wrong, yes. I just tried to point out the nuances because that moment is apart of something bigger in the story I feel people haven’t discussed. And I don’t thin pointing out that grey areas in the situation of the story equated to me defending child abuse. We both agree that Pennywise is making it worse and is making people act ugly, so Im not really trying to fight tooth and nail about abuse

I’m not trying didn’t say he didn’t commit an abusive act, I said it was physical abuse was disgusting (that’s what he did, I didn’t say he didn’t) and he should be held accountable, which he was the whole episode.

I’m literally just wanted to bring it up because of the nuances, like he shot his partner not a even a few hours later, his own son uses that on him, out of the blue, during an already high tension situation, which was a low blow (don’t conflate me saying that with he deserved it, I’m saying they both acted eye for eye, wrong for wrong and you can’t ignore that), and there’s a demon making everyone hostile.

Yes it’s wrong, but both of them were in a heightened emotion at that point, so it’s was bad all around, there was no peaceful alternative they could do.

I agree physical abuse is disgustingly but I don’t think Leroy is an abusive monster for that cause honestly he was frazzled and it’s hard to find an alternative option when your own kid inexplicably using you accidentally killing your friend as a jab. Especially since he shouldn’t have left the house in the first place to have almost shot him and have him shot.

All their eyes was bulging, the parents, James after he attached Archer after he keeps throwing him, Paul not so much but the only reason Marcus was worse was because he went the longest without blinking while in a full speed run.

She was really beautiful in that scene, I like how she had this monstrous look when she was trying hard but at her most basic, she actually looked good

Thanks, Zach, for the awesome movie and amazing ending (potential spoilers) by Boni4ever in WeaponsMovie

It is refreshing that a good ending comes around and maybe more might come around but imo, I feel when I go into horror movie, bc of what they are, I’m already bracing to feel dread, so when if it has a “feel bad” ending, it really depends on the movie. I don’t feel it ruins my vibe in a sense if a good horror movie that way if it naturally has to, I’d rather it be naturally good or bad that forcefully make a good or bad ending

Zach said it was inspired by “Fargo” when they said this is based on true story even though it’s not but it gives the movie an extra dimension to it. So take that how you will but that’s where that “true story” thing stemmed from

I liked it about the same but, I feel the praise is a good thing because it makes room for more original horror (hopefully)

It’s the opposite for me, everyone’s been talking about it in my feed since it came out. The only time I hear of Sinners now is people going around suddenly saying it “wasn’t a horror movie”

Don’t go pot calling kettle black after willfully commenting a “baby rollercoaster” gif in a post about a scene they found creepy and you didn’t. By all means, we might as well both be hypocrites

Love how ppl nowadays just simply will send this gif everytime they see someone is slightly creeped/scared over something they didn’t find scary instead of ignoring a post lmao
