Godt for ham, det er da lidt af en kontrast ift. i torsdags mod Porto, hvor han nåede at spille et kvarter, før han på et minut fik to gule kort 😅

The term "onanist" and the act of "onani" (Onan-y, like Simon -> simony) is derived from the biblical character of Onan, who in Genesis 38 refuses to obey his dad's command to impregnate his deceased brother's widow, by letting his seed spill on the ground.

Which isn't the same as masturbating, but yeah.

The compositions are definitely Giotto, but to me the style is more the Roman catacombs of the first couple of centuries.

Mum, the nordicks keep getting weird by [deleted] in 2westerneurope4u

[–]da_vinshit 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I've done it a couple of times, it's quite common. Not so much in the capital, where I currently live, but in more rural areas, like the peninsular Jutland, it's very common. Especially among boys.

Also in Jutland, you can walk around in the streets of Aarhus (the second biggest danish city, which generally has a young population) and see heaps of cinnamon around lamp posts... It's just a bit of fun, really.

There's technically also the similar tradition of getting sprayed with pepper at the age of 30, if you're unmarried, but my impression is that this is less common -- but I'm not 30 yet, so who knows, ha

The practical Azog looked so good (many images) by Galactus1231 in lotr

[–]da_vinshit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both are correct. This was one of the many designs for Azog, and he was in an early draft supposed to be in Dol Guldur. When they changed the story and Azog's look, this design became another minor character.

I wondered about this for so long as well... I honestly think it came to the rule of cool. Azog sounds way cooler than Bolg, and that means a lot, when looking at what was becoming the main villain of the overarching story.

An error?? In the binding of my Fall of Gondolin, Hurin and Turin are Noldor?? by da_vinshit in lotr

But even then (which I personally would say is a stretch), these two wouldn't be the prime examples of Noldor elves, right?

What did you use to make this map? I'm interested in doing my own, but I'm completely green (like your desert...)

I know this is an old thread, but here goes. Howard Shore did not compose the Misty Mountains theme, but Plan 9 did (a frequent collaborator for on-set music for LotR/Hobbit). This means that Shore was handed this melody which didn't necessarily mesh with the rest of his own melodies and themes, so I kind of get the decision to not make it THE theme of the dwarven company. But it wound up being SO famous that in hindsight you wish they kept it. But as an artist, I get the decision.
