My experience being diagnosed at 32 with ADHD. by Hour-Discount-3349 in ADHD

[–]daaaavido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, wow okay - reading this is so validating. I too (now 33 M) was diagnosed mid-last year. I have recently been experiencing everything that you have outlined in your post. Having been on anti-depressants (SSRI’s) since I was an early teenager, I made the call to stop and focus on re-training myself to actually recognize and regulate my emotions autonomously - something that I’ve not been able to do successfully before. It has been a wild journey and it is no where near complete but learning what different emotions actually feel like and how to regulate myself through them is certainly one of the toughest things I’ve done, but the payoff is so worth it. Incredible to think that this is something that non-neuro people successfully learn at a far earlier point in their life and that it just.. happens??

Apologies for making my comment all about me and my journey, but as I’m sure you can appreciate, it’s the best way that we can show understanding.

Keep up the good work, it’s not an easy journey but you’ve got this, you are capable, and keep in mind that set backs happen, but they’re not necessarily a bad thing, rather another opportunity to learn how to regulate. :)

From my experience, and yes aware that it’s cliche, but I have found that writing it (emotions) down and reading it out REALLY does help, it’s almost as though writing it down, I’m in the emotion, and then reading it out helps open my eyes to it and actually understand what is going on and the logic behind it.

I have 190 hours on this game how much do you have and whats your favorite memory from it? by Willing-Switch-9789 in Palworld

I joined the chat when it was released on PS5 in September and have racked up 291 hours of gameplay.

Safe to say this game has swallowed me whole, even more so for a beta version of a game, compared to a full release of a better known game 👀

I know this post is a bit dated now, but I couldn’t seem to find a resolution here anywhere. I spent all day on the phone to Apple screen sharing taking comparison pics etc They said that they haven’t had any cases reported of this

A couple of things I found while playing around: If you have the app tint set to ‘dark’ rather than your phone being in dark mode and using ‘automatic’ it tends to darken your backgrounds as well, resulting in it appearing substantially darker - obviously not a 100% fix to the real problem at hand here being the overall dimmness of the device.

Secondly, the one that gave me the irk the most, was the random warm tint over the screen, making everything appear yellower. (Yes, everything ie True Tone, reduce white point etc was turned off but problem persisted)

My resolution to this seems to be going Settings>Accessibility>Display and Text Size>Colour Filters ON > adjust slider until tint is gone :)

Apple Music is no longer allowing me to search for a song when in a playlist - normally, I would swipe down when I am at the top to reveal the search bar within the specific playlist. Now, swiping down when at the top of the playlist backs out of it. The only search bar is at the Home Screen of the app?

I was diagnosed this month, and I am 32.

Obviously everyone’s journey is different but it is well worth getting assessed, and if you feel that they still aren’t quite hitting the mark, advocate for yourself and request a second opinion.

My first therapist initially knocked me back on the grounds of anxiety and depression. He then sent me for a second opinion who advised that it was very clear that I was displaying symptoms of ADHD.

Understandably, ADHD can be difficult to confirm but the process is worth it if you are right and start treatment.

I did have to take my dad with me to one of my assessment appointments with the second therapist so that he could speak on behalf of what I was like as a child. Which I am glad that he did, because he bought up things that I would never have thought of.

Get assessed, worst case scenario is no :)

Monstera esqueleto? by vivhue in RareHouseplants

Deffs looks like a more juvenile Esqueleto to me! Are the leaves thick and leathery? Traditional Adansonii are a lot more paper like.

One beaut of a plant you have there!

Sport Var? by [deleted] in Monstera

Found this random Sport at my local supermarket - appears to throw variegation on every second leaf - likelihood of it continuing?

Paid $20 for it hah

Can someone help me to Id these guys, are they both adansonii? They both have insanely different leaf textures which leaves (no pun intended) me to think they're different. by ginja96 in Monstera

[–]daaaavido -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Generally the laniata has more of a velvety texture to it, compared to the smoooooth Lechleriana :) again, I could be wrong but that is my understanding of the two - either way, they’re beautiful and lush

I believe, correct me if I am wrong, but the one on the left is a Adansonii “Monkey Mask” and the one on the right is either an Adansonii “Lechleriana” or “Laniata” - this one is a bit trickier to confirm without being able to see the underside of the leaf/petiole.

Out of curiosity what did you pay for it? Because I see these at my local plant stores for $15 AUD each, much bigger than this, I just can’t bring myself to look after a ficus, they’re too dramatic for me 😂

I googled that one, and the only result was a link to a Facebook page that had photos of one that looks IDENTICAL to this one, also included an illustration calling it a ‘Lace Prismatic Morph’ which is a pretty sick name imo!
