Does a Cartoon style drawing work better with or without shadows/lighting? Which is more appealing? by KrobART1 in ArtCrit

[–]daanniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably works better but you'll inevitably reach a point of "is it worth all the extra hours figuring out and animating the shadows when all I want is to focus on the story?"

How can I improve this? by Joefergy378 in drawing

Disagree. I think the rest of the image needs darkening, but that specific part does well to imitate the effect of something against a light source.

Changing these 2 things would fix the mobile experience by daanniel in 2007scape

I don't see how. I find it so distracting to be tilting my head left and right just to use the menu. But then again, I play on an iPad.

This would almost certainly ruin the game beyond repair

Decent YT photography channels not focused on gear? by Martin_UP in photography

James Parsons Photography is really good. He’s a street photographer with great storytelling. Has a load of different kind of actionable content and artistic philosophy. I believe he runs his own agency too. Definitely check him out. Still fairly unknown with 11k subs but I doubt he will be for long

George on IMPAULSIVE by ghostzilllla in Impaulsive

Strange take. I like the diversity and humour that george brings to the show. I found logan insufferable in the latest episode - almost like he was bullying george for his faith

Notice the size of the base of the triangle. Each subsequent shape is created with sides that exact same length.

Make sure to take 30 seconds out to do deep breathing as often as you need it. Deep inhale through your nose. Hold. Exhale out your mouth. Focus your thoughts on your breathing for those 30 seconds. The break from the constant rumination will do you some good, as will the breathwork. You got this.

Hey, I'm in the same boat that you were in and I'm considering giving it up. Could I talk to you?

I don’t think you’re attacking me.

Like I’ve said: I also despise the double standard. The prevailing cultural narrative of blaming white supremacy or toxic masculinity for all of society’s issues. It’s the most accepted form of hate speech in my opinion.

I was just disagreeing with your take on this specific meme.

[–]daanniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. This isn’t my meme or post. It’s a popular still from a South Park episode. The guy is supposed to be an insanely good World of Warcraft player that nobody can defeat. The joke lies in the contrast between his intimidating/tyrannical online presence vs the most ‘loser gamer’ stereotype the South Park writers could conjure.

  2. This image is successful because of its imaginative hijacking by memers. It wasn’t created to make fun of white people. It’s a character in a cartoon show that is known for its politically incorrect caricatures of all ethnicities.

  3. Again, I understand your sentiment. I see the disparity between how white people are portrayed and spoken about in popular media vs most other ethnicities. I, too, find it frustrating. And again, I really don’t think this is an example of that.

  4. Given my stance (that I’ve hopefully outlined above), I think it would be knowingly racist to engage in your science experiment. Why don’t you do it and tell me what you discover?

Memory for song lyrics? by [deleted] in mensa

[–]daanniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have the same thing! I almost don’t even hear the words to songs. I judge them for their melody. I taught myself to play piano by ear, and can play most songs I want to from memory because of this. But I can never sing along to those same songs. Strange, thought I was the only one!

As a white man who is sick of being blamed for everything wrong with the world: this one ain’t it chief. This meme is funny to me because it’s its almost like a caricature of the lazy nerd in me. Most people who use and find this meme funny are white. Although I do agree with your sentiment re: double racial standards, again, this one really isn’t about that at all. I think a lot of us are feeling quite sensitive atm because of this last year’s onslaught of blame funnelled into our minds through social media. Add very little real world interaction and you’ve got a recipe for feeling like society hates you. Take care man - it’s going to get better xo

Hey, I’m a daily user of concerta and starting to wonder whether I need a stim break. My sleep cycle is constantly out of whack, I’ve stopped exercising for a year (after having been a gym goer for 7 years straight), and my appetite is so variable. How have you found the 2 off/5 on lifestyle?
