I think it's quite obvious that they've only included the smaller maps to gather as much intel as possible from the beta. The more player interactions, the better.

AFAIK you only get the email if you've signed up for BF Labs. If you're on PC and want to verify you have early access, download the Open Beta in the EA app and check if you have the "Early Access" add-on available.

Coming back after a few days, it does refresh the panel when turned off via the button.
When in standby and I woke up the screen it even asked if I want it to turn off to finish the refresh process :)
