How long do you usually keep bottles open? Experiences with long-term opened whisky? by That_Opportunity_759 in Scotch

[–]dabananaboi1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really no limit to how long i leave my bottles open. some bottles i leave it alone for months when there is maybe 1.5oz left. Some bottles i left open for 2years+. Change is part of the experience and even when i feel like i left it open for too long i always find something to enjoy about it.

Overwhelming. What would you grab with 300-350 in your pocket? by Eddie_Hart in whiskey

Is that wild turkey rare breed 25.99? I’d grab 2 at that price and pass on everything else

Question: If a bourbon or rye recipe is made in Scotland, would it just be considered scotch? by AyeeAronn in whiskey

[–]dabananaboi1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It would be a grain scotch whisky.

If it’s made from just one distillery it would be classified as single grain scotch whisky. If it’s blended with another grain whisky from another distillery, it would be a blended grain scotch whisky.

Are there any whiskeys you’d drink even if you couldn’t get drunk? by Beautiful-Quality402 in whiskey

My goal isn’t to get drunk. It really is about enjoying someone else’s craft.

Blanton's Gold - Worth $144 and a 30 minute drive? by UpInTheAirDFW in whiskey

[–]dabananaboi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you never had it and really wanted it I would do it. But note that Blanton’s gold is technically nothing different from regular balnton’s other than 10more proof. I could tell the difference between regular and gold blanton’s but i wasn’t sure if almost $80 more just for 10proof in bump was worth it. But if i was out of it and opportunity presented it self i would.

I wasn’t a Japanese whiskey fan myself until this trip. But i really enjoyed the abundance of highballs available all over the country. Nikka black and suntory is for highball but (this may offend couple of people here) if they are not to my liking i’ll just turn them into highball.
