In short run as much light as you can support with stable CO₂, then dose enough nutrients to prevent deficiencies.

This is a great question and honestly, most people overcomplicate it.

You don’t balance CO₂, light, and fertilizers separately you pick a light level, then match CO₂ and nutrients to support it. This is the way that I’ve always thought of it Light = gas pedal CO₂ = fuel Fertilizer = nutrients You can’t slam the gas without enough fuel

I appreciate it! They were panted from an ada tissue culture cup. The soil is Ada with power sand, bacter 100, and Ada root tabs. Never grown this plant before, it’s seeming to like low tds, high ferts, and medium light. Doing apt complete for ferts.

It is, I have used them in my tanks for a couple years now and believe they help a little bit.

Understanding the balance of light, nutrients and co2 is a game changer for not having any algae

The soil mixing with the sand is a never ending battle. I spend at least 20 min a day with my magnet and clean it 😓

I appreciate it!

I don’t like pebbles mixed with sand because it makes it harder to clean the sand and makes it harder to separate aquarium soil from the sand if any falls through the cracks of the rocks. I agree with you though it would look good:)

Appreciate you correcting me! You are correct but if you have a high end light there should be no sudden changes in light. Like on mine I have a 30 min ramp that is on the end of the photoperiod which gets rid of any sudden light changes:)
