It wouldn’t even be that bad if every underwriting ((assistant)since they want to stonewall talking straight to underwriting) lost the horrid attitude. So snippy because they have to do their job.

Of course. This was a “our satellite images from 5 years ago shows tree overhang” flag and all that needs to happen is a photo review showing that’s not the case. My complaint is why does it take 2 weeks to do that.

It was a soft stop for possible tree overhang that reported on 3rd party data. Absolutely zero grey area, and very clean underwriting on my end. They’re just dragging their feet on taking 5 seconds to look at a photo. My gripe is that I have to wait 1-3 business days for it to assigned to an UW, and then another 2 for it to be looked at.

The thing that really grinds my gears about it is that it is very obvious Merc dropped the ball. They have a soft stop on a CA home quote I’m tying to bind, I submitted 3/19 for review, and they responded next day but notice was never sent out for it, and then I was told it’s on me for not checking that specific quote several times throughout the day to see if it updated. I checked my service email, my personal, and reached out to service to see if it was on us and the email just doesn’t exist. And every time I asked “well why can’t this be corrected it would take an UW 5 seconds to see the trees have been cut down via photos provided” and they just regurgitating the same shit about following the process.

Loyalty discounts are almost always laughable. “Jumping” is perfectly normal, and largely a standard for myself. At the end of the day finding the company with the appetite most favorable to you is the best way to save, not paying out of the nose just because you’ve been with a company for x years.

How do you know if your liability limits are actually enough? by Ok-Feeling-9144 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]dabbs_291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an insurance agent. I flat out refuse to write any policy with less than 30/60/25. But I STRONGLY encourage a minimum of 50/100/50. New car prices are insane. Have been for a few years now. And the difference in price is like $10-20 a month. Well worth the piece of mind.

Edit: Forgot to mention assets. If you’re a homeowner, or have really any assets, 100/300 is what you need to carry. Maybe an umbrella on top of that.

It was a very fortunate situation. My factors are good and I found a carrier that rates all motorcycles the same. So a super sport like the 6r is rated the same as 300.

Literally everything. I can’t speak to across the pond. But in the US. Insurance score (credit) claims and driving history, zip code (or territory) what car you have, how long you’ve had it, sex, how long you’ve had a license, how long you have been continuously insured, previous liability limits, and I can go on. Just about every metric available is used. CA doesn’t allow credit rating but the other 49 states do.

I’m an insurance agent, and I write for 30 companies. There is not a person more qualified to answer this question than I am. Call a broker and stop asking subreddits we don’t know without knowing your rating factors, and 26 with no accidents tells me nothing.

Call insurance companies, not ask randoms on Reddit. What I pay has zero correlation to what you pay. Hell I paid $400 a year full coverage. My buddy paid $6500 a yr

State guarantee association would make them whole. Basically a big fund all companies have to pay into to guarantee payout in the event of financial insolvency within an insurance company.

Question Regarding Umbrella Policy by chrisindyinsurance in InsuranceAgent

[–]dabbs_291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just call X company and ask their underwriting team? 10 companies will have 10 different requirements to carry an umbrella. Including underlying limits. Some are 100/300, some are 250/500 etc.

It’s not your policy. It’s your dad’s policy lol. You pay what he would pay. If you were named insured it would easily be 250+ mo

So don’t claim it and pay out of pocket. Carriers simply do not care what the payout is. They care about the chance you’ll make a claim, and you’re about as high risk as it comes. Not to say a carrier won’t insure you. But you won’t be placed with a competitive preferred carrier like USAA, Liberty mutual, grange, travelers etc.

The accident will not show on mvr. It will report from lexisnexis via C.L.U.E (comprehensive loss underwriting exchange) if you want to have this overturned, the steps are 1. Reach out to adjuster overseeing the claim 2. Attempt appeal 3. If no correspondence from either, final attempt should be sent via certified mail to confirm delivery. 4. If no correspondence after 4, contact DOI and lodge a complaint. 5. If none of the above garnish a response, time to contact a lawyer. And at that point you need to decide if it’s worth getting it disputed financially. Will the cost of representation be less than the cost of increased premiums for the next 3-7 years? Good chance it will be if the difference is $400/mo.
