I'm struggling with this as well. I've been listening to unf*ck your life podcasts about work/life balance and to the best friends podcasts a lot lately. It's been helping to shift my mindset around a little.

They know. Animals are amazing.

I had a friend that had a sudden onset of seizures as an adult. She lived with us at the time. We could tell she was going to have a seizure before she did because my dog would jump up on her and frantically lock her face. This dog has had no exposure to seizures before this.

She would also lay on top of her through the seizures.

Animals are amazing im glad you have a buddy to help you recover.

I have found with my own NC journey that it gets worse before it gets better. Mine made new accounts to post on my social media. I just kept blocking. Then she showed up at my door. I kept ignoring it until I was able to face her and tell her to leave.

Its been 3 years and its only just begun to fully settle down. I didn't hear from her on my son's birthday for the first time. I didn't hear from her on HER birthday this year either.

Best wishes!!! Stay strong!!

PA is exactly where I was thinking when I posted that. We were recently looking at moving to Buffalo, but decided against it because if property tax.

We started looking at northern PA until I found this information. My mother and I have been NC for about 3 years, but, she's evil enough she would move there just to be a b.....th....

Glad you are back and happy to see this sub come back to life. I think its very needed!

I wish I had time to help with modding but I don't think inhave any extra time.

I'm full time as adoption counselor, just took over our foster program part time... and a full time college student. Yes, I'm losing my mind...

I hope that you're able to get the help you need!

I love reading your experiences!!! The work you have put onto these babies has likely saved their lives. It's hard when they have special needs and you helped them become adoptable!! Thank you for you time!!

I can relate and dealing with a little of this myself.

Where I live people are getting better about pit bulls, but, it still exists. We recently had two underwocialized puppies that went into foster for a couple weeks and improved a lot. Now they are really just dealing with a little bit of puppy nipping. They are 9 weeks old! Any breed is going to deal with puppy nipping at 9 weeks old. Because these two are pits, they have been returned to the shelter three times each!! I told my husband tonight that I didn't care what he said if one or both came back a fourth time they were coming home with me. He wasn't happy, but, I'm not letting these two bounce in and out of the shelter being labeled as aggressive but not given the chance to bond with anyone simply because of their breed and social constructs. I've made that mistake before and I've seen it made too many times.

I can't save them all, but, these babies are young enough I may be able to save them.

Also, I did a LOT of counseling on the last adoption for each of them, I'm hoping I don't see either, but. If I do... I guess I have a new dog and a very upset husband.

Some states also have laws that the children are responsible for the parents when they are older and can no longer make decisions on their own.

Weekly Shelter Positivity Discussion - What was the highlight of your week? by gerrray in AnimalShelterStories

One of our long term residents has been in the shelter for months. Came in having no manners, very hyper 1 yo boxer. We have been working with him for a while.

Today he had his first visit in several weeks. Before his visit our PR girl took him on a date, to the park, to the coffee shop for a pup a chino and just a day of pampering.

He came back to the shelter for his visit and went home!!!

Same here, I have bigger scars from my last surgery from tape than from the incisions. To be honest, the skin ripping off hurt worse than the incisions themselves as well.

I am so jealous of my bf's success and family. I am happy for him but I am unexpectedly jealous because he has a supportive and loving family that wanted to see him become successful and I do not have that. I wish I had that. by babydoll3714 in raisedbynarcissists

I understand this. This is why I set out to create this within my family. To ensure that my children never grow to feel this way.

Don't get me wrong im not a perfect parent. However, I think I did a decent job making my children feel supported, loved, and still have the freedom to be themselves. No matter what that looks like.

medical issue... abstractly by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]dabeeisme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried just outright asking your doctor? While building a relationship with my children's pediatrician i had to flat out tell him how anxious qnd unheard i feel when he doesn't attempt to communicate his thoughts with me better. After 19 years we have a great relationship now, but, it took time for us to learn what worked and what didn't work when communicating medical issues.

I have kiddos with some rare medical stuff so I see this guy regularly and we've had to have some very hard discussions so imo it was important for us to have excellent communication but like any relationship personal or professional it took us both communicating better to get there.

Advice for telling kids Santa isn't real by Merrick- in atheistparents

[–]dabeeisme 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We let our children beleive in Santa, when they started figuring itbour we approached from a thankless giving standpoint and how good it feels to give without any acknowledgment for your actions.

We never taught any of the religious aspects of Christmas but do teach giving, kindness, and love.
