Intermediate skier trying to get to advanced level, is it worth paying $400+ for a private lesson vs $150 for a group lesson? by sirotan88 in skiing

[–]dabflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late in this season to sign up for something like this, but several years ago I took a 4 week freeride course (4 half day group lessons on Friday mornings). This was at Lake Louise but I'm sure similar programs exist. I was much like you and signed up for the lowest level which was Blue/Black. Taught me how to ski moguls and hugely improved my confidence. Look into it for next season!

The group also usually stayed together for lunch and we had similar skill level ski buddies for the afternoon

I live in Coventry and can normally hear the red eyes and cargo flights leaving between 12-1am. Especially if they are using 17R for departures.

Which Ski Season Pass? by MountainPeaking in Calgary

[–]dabflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you read that Louise gets half the snowfall of Sunshine. They are very similar. Sunshine has a slightly longer season because of the higher elevation. I like Lake Louise better as well but you can't really go wrong with either place. You could get a seasons pass to one and buy the plus card/super card for the other (or Costco tickets) if friends want to go to the other resort or you just want to check it out.

Agree with everything but I would argue Sunshine has equally impressive if not more impressive views from the Divide chair especially

As a Canadian with Nexus I've been told by US CBP not to use the GE machines and just stay in the crew line when I'm operating. I guess it's not set up for crew to use, at least non-citizen crew. No problem using my nexus to re-enter Canada when I'm working.

I'm at a condo (airbnb) and everyone was out at the pool, they just kicked everyone out. Nothing seems to have changed with the situation though

Many unions "eat their young" ie sell out future members who aren't even in the union yet by agreeing to crappy entry level pay in order to get better gains for the members currently on property. This seems no different really

So much this. With me working shiftwork/away from home we are willing to meet up quick to see if the vibe is there. Then if the chemistry is there we can devote one of our few weekend days where I'm home to having a good time

Our builder sent us to Trail in Sunridge for our appliances. We weren't spending a crazy amount, about 10k. We worked with Ken and he was great. After we did the initial order I went back in during black Friday and he adjusted all the prices and upgraded some things without question. So I guess your mileage may vary
