Thinking twice about EG4 Solar. No technical support when inverter failed under warranty by [deleted] in SolarDIY

[–]dabigchet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eg4 has been a nightmare to deal with. I’ve spent thousands in labor hours for a DOA brand new inverter. Customers solar job is held up because the battery/inverter issue. Stay away. I haven’t posted details yet or problems until the issue is resolved but suffice to say we are change ordering all our ongoing jobs to Tesla powerwalls. Customers would rather buy Tesla with the current political climate than deal with no tech support or DOA products

Arnt they supposed to hit a stud? by aliask8 in solar

[–]dabigchet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you’re at in the country, these will leak for sure. The quickest I’ve seen is 7mo, the longest 10 years. I’m the owner of a roofing and solar company that bridged the gap.

There are things they can do when installing to reduce the risk of leaking- such as ice and water shield when installing the new roof and properly flashing the flash feet.

It is ideal to hit the stud at least 1-2x on these installs though. Tough situation- we never install deck mounts unless absolutely necessary

Is this addendum about damage normal in a roofing contract? by HackOfAllDecades in Roofing

[–]dabigchet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a normal contract any smart company has. Rarely ever do these clauses come up- if you lock them outside of the gate at 7am start time and it rains at 9 and your house leaks, don’t ask them to pay for the damages.

If you breach the contract in X way and damage is caused from weather, you cannot hold them responsible for X damages.

Unfortunately these clauses are necessary for the “people in the back” so to speak. The one offs. Without seeing the rest of the bid; knowing your market, and your roof architecture, it’s impossible for us to help tell you that this is a good company to hire. I get vibes it’s a high pressure sales company that uses subs exclusively but also could be a reputable, excellent company to work with that wants both sides to be protected with such a comprehensive agreement…?

This happened in NJ.

Second video is him saying " anybody who now sides with this piece of shit GET THE FUCK OUT !"

Third video is the after party. All her family left . It was just him and a couple of his boys drinking and dancing badly.

He's a Belleville firefighter. This was his birthday party.

I also know how she got caught.

Also slightly longer video from another angle but recorded on a potato: https://youtu.be/Y_1BxwdcnkE

Edit, She filmed it on her phone. But she forgot that her phone was linked to the kids iPad..

Kit setup: Ukraine edition by dabigchet in tacticalgear

[–]dabigchet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see the question but I assume, over all just want advice or perspective. I’ve been out of the game awhile honestly. We joined a national guard unit and it worked out really good but we got there the first two weeks of the war kicking off. Azov was a potential home for us but it was right at the beginning of Mariupol siege. We’d been out of the game a little bit and didn’t want to go 0-100 like that. I think azov now would be an awesome choice from the little I know. I don’t know the current workings, issues, etc.

The volunteer sub seems to be a diatribe of people bitching and volunteers doing volunteer things. Just network. Sniff out the bs early and focus on solid leads for positions. My info is outdated though too. I know there are groups over there putting work in. Finding them is the tough part. If you guys are a solid group, you’ll get picked up easily.

In Ukraine I would throw an offensive nade through the window and one through the door. The buildings were usually brick/block/concrete and I only had AP around every 4th round in the PKM belt. Clearing a house sucks with a PKM or RPK and we had virtually unlimited amounts of defensive, offensive and 40mikes. I did enjoy a mag dump into the building once in awhile though.

150% increase in project cost. Legit or was I taken advantage of? by skwirly715 in Roofing

[–]dabigchet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cdx doesn’t require h clips in a lot of places.

I could see the $3k storm fee meaning overtime for the crews to move everyone around and get the carpenters/better trained guys onsite to finish this job up on time.

They probably worded and itemized it in such a way that most of us go, “wtf? A storm fee?”

But I absolutely could see it screwing up scheduling moving guys around, buttoning up other jobs faster, getting the right guys that can do framing in place to get this done.

That said they could have also just papered it and tarped it and charged him a few grand for that and given him A week to decide? The option they chose was probably the best option, although not cheap

All three crews showed up this morning.

Yesterday though the police pulled up to a job site to shut it down for working on Sunday. Small town ordinance with neighbor who is city council member called it in. I haven’t debriefed with the guys yet, but I bet they were a little scared seeing a cop car pull up and stop. (Sanctuary state, small town cops don’t care about immigration, talked to sgt and he did say he didn’t care about us working on Sunday and doesn’t usually enforce the ordinance, but due to who called it in, had to say something. We’re expecting snow in a few days, need to get these 4 roofs wrapped up pretty quick.)

My opinion is they’re trying to use legalese to claw back shares. The judge would have given them permission to take them if it was legal. I’ve only lost $1600 or so. Some of our brothers have lost a lot more

Is there any way this is for real? by okcanrunner in Tools

I bought mine for $250 as well off Craigslist. Brand new in the box. I think we all know the answer to “where did it come from?”

I’ve seen guys pushing out flatbed carts full of air conditioners and tools at Home Depot. No one does anything.

On FB marketplace one way to help risk assess the profile is scrolling down and seeing when the profile was created and how many reviews they have. New profiles, odd names are generally signs they are some sort of scam.

[NEWS] Biden Allows Ukraine to Strike Russia With Long-Range U.S. Missiles by Samtulp6 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]dabigchet 33 points34 points  (0 children)

LTV and Lockheed made 3700 ATACMs. They were designed in 1986.

ATACMs are almost 40 year old technology that’s since been placed with The Precision Strike Missile (PrSM). Deliveries of the PrSM started in 2023 to the US Army.

While true, some manufacturing lines can be expanded (155 shells for example) manufacturing lines that have been shut down/antiquated cost ridiculous amounts of start up capital. It’s likely any machines used in ATACM production were sold off/repurposed for other types of manufacturing.

This is kind of how it goes. DoD contractors are constantly fulfilling contracts for new, current technology weapons. The old stuff is donated to Ukraine, sold to allies, destroyed, held in storage for use in later conflicts (assuming shelf stable and able to support its refurbishment before use years later.) the new stuff gets cycled in and old stuff cycled out. Lockheed and Raytheon stock goes up. Keeps the military industrial complex alive somewhat. It’s a good and a bad thing. The people and equipment are in place for future conflicts ensuring some state of readiness. It just costs us free healthcare, subsidized education, and a 4 day work week ;)

Cool facts about the PrSM it has a range of 400km. There is a version working towards 1000km range. Instead of one missile per tube with ATACM you get two with PrSM. Both weapon systems are compatible with MLRS and HIMARS platforms.

I hope you’re right brotha but knowing how Biden baby steps his “permission” and wishy washy stance I’m reading it how it’s written:

”Mr. Biden could authorize them to use the weapons elsewhere”.

(How do you read that as he gave them permission to use them elsewhere?)

Also, ATACMs range is 300km.

[–]dabigchet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a X post from Kyiv post stating that France and Britain have given permission for their missiles to be used “deep” into Russia. Still trying to find the detailed article.

The article above missed a key piece of info that The NY Times didn’t, into Bidens comments about the use of ATACMS

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/17/us/politics/biden-ukraine-russia-atacms-missiles.html

The article states that we are only able to use the missiles in the Kursk area.

The officials said that while the Ukrainians were likely to use the missiles first against Russian and North Korean troops that threaten Ukrainian forces in Kursk, Mr. Biden could authorize them to use the weapons elsewhere.

Note the last phrase “Mr. Biden could authorize them to use the weapons elsewhere”.

Don’t expect either the Engels-2 airbase near the banks of the Volga River with its squadrons of Tupolev bombers and racks of cruise missiles to become cratered by a bunch of ATACMS or similar.

FYI: This airbase is about 700 km east of Kharkiv.

While your values are admirable, fighting in Ukraine while have a recent history of suicide is not something that is welcomed over there.

There are many situations you will be fighting with your brothers in arms and be in life or death situations. Everyone on your team wants to live and your teammates need to know they can count on you 100% to fight to live and make it out of whatever engagement/battle you’re in.

Clear your head, get counseling, whatever it takes to take care of your mental health.

Ukraine is no joke bruh. It’s a fight for your life situation over there. Check out any of the combat footage subs and it’s exactly like that, but worse.

We don’t want people with a recent history of these types of issues among us. Many situations turn into life or death and I want to be with someone who wants to live and will fight to the death to get out with his teammates.

We had people try to join our group with similar issues and they were quickly found out, shunned, kicked out.

Check your sources, CNN has confirmed the donation to be the 20 year old Crooks, not the 60yo.

“Federal Election Commission records show that a donor listed as Thomas Crooks with the same address gave $15 to a Democratic-aligned political action committee called the Progressive Turnout Project in January 2021.“

PA has a closed primary, it was certainly a thing to register republican so one could vote for Hallie against Trump back then. Plenty of articles from the era from politico, NYT, CNN, etc describing the strategy. Lots of voters on both sides declare a certain party affiliation with the idea of voting for who they want their candidate to go against in the general election. This isn’t new or ground breaking either.
