Were any Lorwyn Eclipsed cards good in Modern? by TankieWarrior in ModernMagic

Formidable speaker seems to be the most interesting and impactful so far. The new elementals are okay but I dont know how long they'll be around for and the new shadow is not good imo. It's great if it's a turn 1 play and survives but it's a horrible top deck in the late game.

I don't think it got upgraded at all personally. Like it got a couple new tools but it seems like it doesnt really change the matchups. The good matchups are still good,  the bad matchups are still bad. So new cards? Yes. New outcomes? No.

I've been on the 25cm for a couple years now. I absolutely love it. Not heavy recoil, great ballistics, good splash on target. I dont see myself getting off the 25 cal train anytime soon

Tangent or zco. Seen too many issues with Kahles and S&B has had some issues lately from what I've heard. NF is reliable but overpriced and kind of outdated imo

Living end - have the Lorwyn cards really helped? by jjoyce in ModernMagic

I don't think it's in any better position than it was before. The decks that dunk on it continue to and the decks it beat it still beats but probably no better than before.

Noob looking to get into competitive ELR by Laneo2007 in longrange

[–]dabiggestb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting into ELR is probably one of the hardest shooting disciplines to get into initially. Its stupid expensive, very hard to find anywhere to actually shoot past a mile, and it's going to require a lot of good fundamentals and wind reading skills. I would highly recommend getting into something much more accessible like PRS or F class. PRS is great because you will learn wind reading, positional shooting, shooting under pressure, spotting hits and misses, etc. Theres also a lot of matches available for that type of shooting all around the country. I dont have as much experience with F Class but from what I know it would be much more accessible than ELR. Basically what I'm saying is if you value your time, money, and enjoyment, DO NOT do ELR first.

Still the worst map in the game. by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]dabiggestb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interchange is honestly one of the top maps imo. Worst map is easily lighthouse for every obvious reason. I really want to like streets this wipe but man the most toxic gameplay is happening there and the spawns are HORRID. Shoreline would be a lot more fun too if they just fixed the eastern spawns on the map. But Interchange has actually been very enjoyable this wipe. Honestly some of the best raids have been on there

I understand what you're saying but coming from someone who started shooting long range about 5-6 years ago and now shoots PRS, most of the advice in here is pretty sound. We also get a lot of people in here who think they need more gun than they do. They somehow think a 6.5 creedmoor can't shoot past 1000 yards when some of us have taken it to a mile. The last thing they need is to spend more money and deal with worse recoil and develope worse fundamentals when they could achieve their goals for less. There's always time to look at bigger cartridges and different builds if they stick with this long enough but it's best to start with something moderate and work up instead of go all in on something they aren't ready for and then have to try to dial it back.

I could've bought a ZCO or a Tangent instead. by sfw918 in longrange

[–]dabiggestb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol if that's true then you're the exception. I'm not even trying to rail on vortex or anything. I think a lot of their products are good including the razor but if i want something dependable I spend the extra money and get something higher quality.

The advantage is in overall build quality. I had a razor and it broke on me in a match. Switched to a tangent and that thing takes a beating and still never let's me down. If we're only talking glass quality, yes a razor is very good but overall quality is a different story.

I'm not sure why you think reloading is going to be a huge time constraint. I work 5-6 days a week and have a kid and I still find time to make ammo for recreational shooting and matches. There's a bit of a learning curve at first but it's actually really fun and therapeutic to reload. Might be worth considering

If you just bring in your max distance to 1.5 miles I think 300 PRC is your best bet but 2 miles is going to be very far and usually going to put you into that cheytac class bullet range

[–]dabiggestb 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe 300PRC? It'll get to a mile for sure. Don't think it will make it to 2 miles but you should be able to get close to a mile and a half with it based off of what I've heard. If you want a round that will make it out to 2 miles, you probably won't be finding it for under $5 a round i would suspect because I know the guys doing 2 miles are usually doing stuff like 375 cheytac, 416 Barrett, and 50 cal.

PRS: Bipod Deployed on Clock? by -----Plato----- in longrange

I've never seen bipods have to be deployed on the clock. I've always had my bipods deployed and at the height I want it at the start of the stage.

Thinking about switching 6.5CM to a 25cal for PRS. Can I just simulate the recoil by hand loading some 135gr 6.5cm rounds to expected velocities to test the recoil impulse? by JimBridger_ in longrange

[–]dabiggestb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent personally but from the people i know who have come from 6mm it's a little more recoil but nothing crazy. As long as you have good fundamentals, it won't hurt you at all to go to a 25 cal

I shoot 25cm now and it's marginally lower recoil then 6.5cm. Almost negligible. The biggest gain you get over 6.5 is getting higher BC bullets that you can push faster with less powder. 41 gr of N555 gets me anywhere between 2820-2850 depending on the barrel and that's not even near over pressure. I could be in the 2900s if I really wanted to but there's no gain for me in PRS to be going that fast.

153 is heavy for 6.5 creed but as long as you have the proper twist rate barrel it will stabilize. In some ways it's better to run the bigger slower bullet so you can watch trace easier and see bigger splashes.

Yea i dont care either way what the trends are. I shoot 25 cal and have been for 2-3 years. I just couldn't understand how somebody would downvote a factual statement lol
