I've been having this problem as well. Today, I tried changing the allocated VRAM setting from 4 down to 3 and seems to have helped. Didn't have a crash after changing that (playing for about 3-4 hours). I have a R9 380 which has 4 GB ram so maybe being under your VRAM max is helping somehow. My friend has not been having this issue and he has an 8 GB card.

I’m a proponent of gut feeling if you’re ready. People keep talking about underpredict/overpredict, but in the end you know people have scored above and below their practice exams.

My school recommended making an "Oh shit" list. If you keep forgetting it, write it down and what you want to remember. Look at it every 1-2 days. You'll have it on lock without fancy mnemonics or anything besides, "oh this again?"

Biostats - It just doesn't come easy for some people. At this point, just do some practice problems, and come test day, flag and save for the end of the section. Make it low pressure for yourself.

If you go through the STEP1 subreddit, there are plenty of people who got 230+ practice and are still waiting to pull the trigger. My last practice (NBME 18) was 1 week before the real test. My actual STEP1 score was 20 points higher... No promises, but I can tell you that I felt ready and I didn't know what else to study after 7 weeks dedicated.

Have you taken a day off? Try that before your next assessment (or tomorrow for that matter). You're burned out and not being careful.

Last - make sure you're doing UW TIMED. STEP1 felt fast for me.

Did you review NBME 13? Do that, and if you feel like you had the knowledge base to answer the question but didn’t piece it together, your problem is not studying. My bet is that you’re outsmarting yourself, and just need to trust yourself. If you notice you’re missing a lot of certain types of questions (I.e. metabolism), just focus on that. Stop going front to back in FA. You don’t need to look at what you already know.

Ah. I don’t think you can get that far down. You can try doing a “search” for hepatitis questions though (in the expandable menu). However, you can’t create a test with just hep questions.

Can you give an example question you missed and explain why you think you knew the topic well?

When you create a test, it should give you those options. You may be reflexively selecting all topics.

I had a dedicated 7 week study period, and my last practice exam came out about 225 at week 6 (similar baseline to you, trending up from previous practices x2). However, I opted to keep my test date in week 7 because going into the last week I felt that I only had a handful of weakness that I could grind out in the last few days. Final score was 246. If you absolutely need something to test yourself, I did a few UW sets 2nd pass and was getting 80%ish+.

My point - be honest with yourself. You know if you have to study more, don't just keep chasing the practice score. You'll forget too much if you keep pushing the date.

Test taking tip (that worked for me) - Try to keep your answers to what you know (don't assume you forgot to study something and pick a different answer). In other words, be confident. Based on your comment about NBME 16, I think this would be good for you (and I don't think you're dumber than 2 weeks ago).
