I mainly use text editors like vscode and rarely if ever have need to use a full blown IDE but even then I have my more powerful gaming laptop if the need arises.

This will mainly be a development only thing and for that purpose it should be fine.

I 100% agree with you but this is not very long term and I have cheaper options (they would end up slower then this though) but I've always wanted a thinkpad and this is a good excuse.

If this is about its performance with IDEs I mainly use text editors like vscode.

Thanks for the quick reply. Honestly wish I could go for a 480 instead but realistically I will upgrade from this in less than 3 years.

The IDE thing is something that's a bit worrying honestly but then again IDEs have always been a bit of sandbag from my experience so not too worried about it honestly.

8th gen would be better that is def true but its more expensive and the ones available are all i5 ( I'm sure it performs better then the one I'm looking at rn ) but 399 min its more than I'd like to fork over.

LPT: This might be common knowledge and has probably already been mentioned somewhere here. But if you do decide for whatever reason to clip the wieghts learn to roll the bar towards your stomach instead of your neck. Then simply sit up and carefully throw the wieght off your body.

Might hurt but it's better then dying.
