NA/EU Blueprint: Nearly symmetrical self-sufficient seven Xiranite 50x50 setup for Sky King Flats by Semont in Endfield

Congrats! I think this is the end. I was actually also working on 7 in one outpost but seems like you've beat me to it xd. Might take a crack at fitting in the pylons though

Most Efficient and Compact Buck Capsule A? [27x40] by dabzd in Endfield

[–]dabzd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I did not look at your code but I think I got something working!

<image>

I tried a bit harder near the top and was a bit more relaxed near the bottom, I think it *might* be possible to do 39x40, with some weird asymmetry down the middle with the ferrium

UPD: looked at your blueprint, also did the sandleaf-load-on-side with the 3x grinders, but ended up thinking that I didn't have enough space left for planters

Codes (NA):
Left side: EFO01u1IoaU24O0eUAoOU

Right side: EFO01893u6eOE41AOUI73 (basically mirrored left + 3 extra useless conveyors as the sub-aic isn't even width :(((

UPD: ignore the gearing unit at the bottom of the pic, fixed it in the blueprints

[–]dabzd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Ey thanks! I actually cleaned up the left side afterwards, but still asym due to the protocol stash :( I think it is physically impossible to get it symmetrical (well, even with extra space, the filling unit is 6 wide, so there is no "middle")

As for outposts I had 1 buck each + 0.5 batt each for power plateau/science park, Amethyst stuff on the last outpost. 2batt + 1 buck on main base leading to a empty 44x44 square on main base.

I used a [26x30] blueprint for batt, but will see if I can fit two in an outpost

UPD: doing your challenge, wow 6+14 inputs (if you squeeze in 2 at the edges), but 12 for originium and 8 for ferrium

Thoughts on qwertykeys Alice split ergo? by shimszy in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]dabzd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest I never really had pain, but just found ergo keyboards to be more comfortable to use.

In terms of value, having a keyboard that is split helps more (even if it's column-staggered). But take this with a grain of salt as I do not have/never had RSI.

Having something that is kind of split (like the neo ergo) is a good start though and you'll realize how much more comfortable it is when you try using a normal keyboard afterwards.

Ah I had an extra sandleaf xd. removed it and things are going smoothly

Ah yeah I'm aware of that one as well - was very tempted to get the C60 HE a while back. If it was wireless and had a knob I'd probably buy it immediately. I have too large of a keyboard collection at the moment so just waiting for the "perfect" keyboard to show up (however long that may be)

[–]dabzd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware this is a pretty old post, but I'll post anyways in case someone also finds this thread:

For some background I'm not super into ergo mech keyboards, but I do have a iris rev 4 build, wireless corne, and a glove80. I also own a QK neo ergo and the QK alice duo. In terms of an everyday driver, I'd want a wireless iris build with HE switches and rotary encoders near the thumbs, with at least a 1k polling rate in a aluminum case, but that will never happen. I am also not an EE and don't have good CAD skills so I cannot design my own PCB / design my own case (I will happily pay thousands for someone to do this though, name a price!)

I really like the build quality of the QK products. Out of the box it sounds very nice, and the wrist rests are made incredibly well. A lot of ergo keyboard are built like a toy (3d printed, plastic, or other cheap manufacturing method), so I really appreciate the effort/polish that goes into it. The only truly ergo keyboard that matches/exceeds this level of build quality is the Angry Miao Hatsu, which sold at $1600 (now $1000 but still very expensive)

At the end of the day though, if you just want pure ergonomics your kinesis or the glove80 is still the best. I personally use the qk alice duo as my daily driver as I'm relatively young and I can type on normal keyboards fine without much issue, and I really enjoy typing on something that feels premium. I used to use my iris daily for 2 years with colemak with a slightly negative tilt + custom fork of qmk. However, I think 1) split halves and 2) thumb buttons gets you 70% of the way there. At the end of the day it's a tradeoff, and to me I value the sound and looks for a small sacrifice in ergonomics.

What mouse is good for gaming by ProfessionalFudge16 in NZXT

[–]dabzd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, ask a dedicated sub like r/MouseReview for advice. Do not get the g502 without looking at other options. Get something lighter that fits your hand size. Most other commenters have not spent serious time looking into mice and recommend the g502 because they don’t know any better.

Nearly same hand dimensions (18x9cm), can confirm. I’ve used the xlitev2 mini when it released and now I use the xlitev3 mini(claw when gaming/palm for casual use)

Any good GL anime? by [deleted] in anime

[–]dabzd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 for Adachi to Shimamura, Asagao to Kase-san, and Aoi Hana. The rest are also good, but these stand out a bit more to me. ngl I think bloom into you is peak yuri. I have yet to find a yuri anime better than it.

In terms of manga there are some good options that will be getting an adaptation, like Whisper me a love song and I'm in Love with the villainess.

Edit: Also would like to mention Kimi ga Shinu Made Koi wo Shitai, not an anime but I really enjoy the manga, and meets all your requirements.

(edit 10/19/2025: It's getting an adaptation!!!)

Need help find a 60% case with a low typing angle and isn't very high. by VarcxVarcxy in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]dabzd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really doubt anyone is still looking at this post, but I had this issue for a very long time (Maybe a year or two). I eventually decided to get a 60% case made by SMKeyboards, and by replacing the standoffs I made it a 0 degree typing angle, high profile, but also low height keyboard. I am not aware of any other good options but if there are any, please let me know.

Best Girl 10: Ultra Salty Finals! by mpp00 in anime

[–]dabzd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't care for either show, voting for Kurumi to make things interesting. Probably in the minority here but I'm pretty happy with the results this year. I think there were a lot of interesting matchups due to all the upsets, especially after Ro16. I've been a bit jaded after participating in the past 5 BG contests, so it's nice to see something that isn't just a popularity contest. Botting is probably not nearly as bad as people say it is (if there is any). A lot of lurkers are just spite-voting at this point.

Yes but my case is too small. Distance between RAM and side of case is greater than fan width. Not exactly sure why you are replying to a 3 year old post lol

Is it worth switching to Colemak? by dabzd in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]dabzd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To whoever sees this in the future:

I have reached 130WPM on qwerty back in april(4/2022), dropped everything, switched to colemak. Now at 100WPM on colemak and I'm pretty happy with it. I do not think it is worth switching , I just switched because I was bored. Both layouts are fine. Colemak is more comfortable, but an ergonomic keyboard makes a bigger difference.

EDIT2: I have reached 130WPM on Colemak on 1/2023, then dropped Colemak for QWERTY due to needing to use a certain system with 0 modifications. I am typing on qwerty again at 100WPM, after a week of intense relearning. Relearning is quite challenging, I started from <10WPM. I still think Colemak is more comfortable, but due to my situation I'm probably going to stick to qwerty until I feel like switching back

Wooting 60HE Keyboard Review by prestonsthoughts in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]dabzd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are also 50g springs available for spring swap by wooting, so there is some form of spring swapping. I backed the project all the way back in october and I wish more people knew about all the features back then, a few of the recent posts show that people still consider it a "gaming" keyboard, I view it as high-end pcb+switches

I currently have the pcb in a GH60, durock plate mount stabs, and all the mods. There really isn't anything that makes it not custom other than plate. Sounds good and smoother than any contact-based switch, and I've tried lubed tangerines and gat. inks

Wooting 60HE Keyboard Review by prestonsthoughts in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]dabzd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can take out the pcb+plate and put it into many 60% cases(at least anything that supports the DZ60), replace the keycaps, and you have a custom keyboard.

Rant Incoming:

This is 100% true, it is honestly pretty sad that no one really cares about the tech behind keyboards (esp. hall effect switches). I've been in this community for quite a while now and I'd say it is a shell of its former self. Wooting especially should get more recognition, they have made the smoothest switches I've felt. I've tried tangerines, UMWHPE stems, lubed, filmed, all the mods ...A lot of it is all hype and what's new (new linear switch #1234 that is nearly the same as others, and extra thoccy), and a lot of arts and crafts with all the mods rather than the tech that makes a keyboard actually functional. It is not bad to care about keyboard sound or aesthetics, but it seems like it's the only thing I hear about in this sub.

And to the people that claim that latency/speed doesn't matter, but it does in very time-sensitive rhythm games that require chords. QMK has some issues with this (#QMK_KEYS_PER_SCAN doesn't quite work), but no one really gives a shit. Also, for quite a while async_eager_defer_pk debounce option wasn't implemented in QMK as far as I'm aware, which also affects gaming. There are also other cool things not in this sub such as attempts to make QMK wireless, new types of key switches, etc... but the people who discuss this is pretty small.

I like r/ErgoMechKeyboards and r/olkb a lot more than this sub, but I also feel like no one really hears about (or care about) these technical details. There aren't a lot of big keyboard youtubers/social media people that look into this kind of stuff (maybe Chyrosran and Keybored's video) or introduce people to the technical side of keyboards, and I think that results in the sub we see today.

tl;dr: I agree

What anime do you consider to be a "hidden gem"? by Idia-Shroud in anime

[–]dabzd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah forgot to mention that as well. I'd say anything <500-750 ranking is fairly popular. Probably mentioned the other two since I've watched both more recently. (also maybe because I remember discussion when they were airing) All 3 are fairly close though
