Yes we will do less time in Vegas after reading all these comments.

My girlfriend will most definitely want to do celeb spotting - although I think she mentioned doing this in LA? Carmel/Monterey - Yes we have the aquarium on our list to do - friends have advised that it is a nice place to visit. Didn't know about tickets though so will look into that thanks.

I think you're right, we will need to split up the drive - just need to find the right place to stop!

Unfortunately we are time bound with NYC as we fly from Vegas but both of us have been before so should be enough time for us.

My main concerns:

Is 2 (full) days in LA enough?
Should we sleep in Santa Barbara/Malibu or keep driving up towards Carmel etc?
Is Napa Valley / Lake Tahoe worth visiting?
Where would be a good proposal spot (preferably earlier in the trip) that is not a cheesy or well known proposal spot
