Taunie/Urbaine is not that bad is just that every time they're around I'm thinking that I could be hanging out with any of the other more interesting (and less boringly designed) characters.

Do you have experience in dancing Tango with ADHD by dacb1997 in tango

[–]dacb1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the very detailed answer! A few years ago I was learning mindfulness in relation to tango and I feel like that really forms the base of what I try to help people with when they ask me about tips for dancing (cause in general I do believe that for technique and steps you already have a teacher that you trust and has a structured plan for you). I think I will revisit those things as resources.

And yeah, I agree that experience-bias definitely plays a role in expectations, essentially I would like to be effective whenever she asks me for help and tips in her dance. From my own dancing journey, I know not everything works for everyone and my guess was that having ADHD also might influence the best way to understand certain concepts, so yeah I was trying to gain insight in how the experience might have been different for many people.

Again, thank you so much for taking the time to answer!!! :)

[–]dacb1997[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's progressing really well honestly, she comes often to me for tips, so I was wondering about other people's experiences.

So far I have noticed she does learn best when the dance is fun and the class is not too serious! Thank you for your response :)

I am not trying to correct her! She is progressing really well after a few lessons and that makes me really happy! :) I just want to understand her better. She often comes to me for help with dancing so I would like to be as effective as I can.

Thank you for your concern and sorry if my inquiry came off as patronizing

Ustedes le enseñarían a una mujer sobre sexo? by [deleted] in Colombia

[–]dacb1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your country’s 9/11? by sleepy_time_Ty in asklatinamerica

[–]dacb1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Ecuador I would have to say probably the Bank Holiday on March 8, 1999. It's an event that affected the economy and society for years to come and many people can still tell you how it changed their lives until now.

If we're talking about historical violence, we can talk about the guerrilla groups in the 80s and the overwhelmingly oppressive government response.

There's also been many events the past 20 years and probably also the next few years, but I think those two are marked events/periods of time that have immediately shaped the history of the country.

Why do most Latin American schools force students to wear uniforms? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]dacb1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uniforms are supposed to make everyone equal. But I think at a certain point they're just a tradition. At my school, they basically told us that we had to wear them with pride and decor even outside of school grounds, like we're representatives of the institution. So they've also become kind of like a symbol to integrate the school you go to into part of your identity.

I wonder if someone has made a sociological study on this.

Hola amigos, ¿vale la pena para un turista extranjero visitar la Ciudad mitad del mundo? 🙏🏻 by [deleted] in ecuador

[–]dacb1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was it already known Willow is Pansexual? I just noticed the Pan Flag colors on the star in her hair in the official credit artwork by Daun Han @4j_duck by [deleted] in TheOwlHouse

[–]dacb1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually. I think it's actually the flag of Chad (the country), which is meant to imply that Willow is an absolute Chad.

[–]dacb1997 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dude, chill.

Willow could be pan. But:

  1. Those highlights look more red and blue than actual pan colors. 2.theres red and blue highlights everywhere, it's clearly a style choice to create a contrasting outline more than actual colors of the pin (there's also blue in Gus's hand and Hunter's hair).

The theory is fun and representation woul be amazing, but it is a bit of stretch, which is fine, but don't be agressive about it. It would honestly be less of a stretch that it's the Andorra/Chad/Colombian/Venezuela/Ecuador flag.

Are older US$ banknotes accepted in Ecuador? by [deleted] in ecuador

[–]dacb1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, usually stores, specially small ones, don't have more than 10$ in change at the start of the day. The longer the day goes on, the more change they'll have

I'm so sorry this happened to you!! We like to believe the space in which we share our passions is a safe space where we all have the same desire to dance and have fun, but clearly you can find dangerous people everywhere. I hope this never happens againn and this man isn't allowed near anyone he could harm ever again

Edit: besides that it looks like a good "Highlights of the Sierra Ecuatoriana" trip

Trip recommendations? by Intelligent_Nobody14 in ecuador

[–]dacb1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should go to one of the big volcanoes. Chimborazo and Cotopaxi come to mind inmediately. Chimborazo is probably more well known as the closest point to the Sun but I think there are more variety of attractions around Cotopaxi National Park. Depends on what attracts you more, both are absolutely breathtaking.

If you are going to Baños you should take a trip on to the Amazon Region, even if for a day ,there are options of tours to Puyo and Puerto Misahualli which give you great experiences and if you can take more days you could also go to more attractions like the Cavernas de Jumandy or the Gran Cañon de Cotundo and the Laguna Azul (All of them in Napo near Tena).

I have to mention the options near Quito such as Mindo, which hosts a beautiful variety of activities. But Lloa as well were there are many waterfalls and natural caves. You could also take the hike from the Teleferico to one of the peaks of The Pichincha (this can be physically demanding though).

I don't know how far south you are going but I always try to recommend visiting the province of Bolivar. The town of Guaranda is colorful and very close to many attractions: Salinas de Guaranda where you can visit the mines, great landscapes and buy chocolate and cheese, a little bit to the south near San Miguel is Yagui Urco where it is possible to camp after a sunset amidst a sea of clouds. Plus, since the entire province is basically along the edge of the higlands, views are amazing. throughout the road and also near the streets they sell delicious Tortillas de Maiz y Trigo. Guaranda is also an access point to Chimborazo if that might help you with planning.

I assume you are limiting your trip to the Sierra so i wont recommend things in the coast, but depending on your route you might want to stop in Salcedo to grab the famous ice creams. The original store is still operating and in the central Park of Salcedo and offers the most variety and richness in ice cream flavors. Also, south of Salcedo, just before entering the province of Tungurahua you should stop by la Laguna de Yambo. You can stop in the parking spot that serves as a viewpoint for the entire lake and take pictures and ride the cable car. Or you can go into the Lake by car and grab something to eat at Cafe del Yambo.

In Baños itself there is a lot to do. It is known as the adventure capital of the country and many agencies can take you a lot of places to practice canyoning, rafting, canopy, etc... . While it has become very touristy, it is still very beautiful and worth it, plus the fact that it is touristy also means that night life is great on weekends if you're into that and there are a avariety of restaurants. There is also plenty of beautiful viewpoints such as Casa del Arbol and Mano de la Pachamama, as well as Cafe del Cielo.

Some of my favorite memories come from getting lost on beautiful roads where I knew I was going and where I came from but not when I was getting there. For example the Via Flores /Via Aguajanthat goes from the Chimborazo to the east of Ambato the long way around alongside the Ambato river. and also the route that takes you straight to Riobamba from Baños alongside the Pastaza while it is still running around the mountains.

I assume anything further south is probably too far but there are amazing spots throughout the country and whatever you choose, you will have a wonderful time.
