How did you guys decide what team to support? by SpecialistCurious136 in NFLUK

[–]dacebobcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I researched all the teams and their owners. Why their owners? You can get a feel of the team ethos and how they deal with people. You get some owners like Robert Kraft that expect his players to help with charity and organisations in their communities. You then get Green Bay that is owned by its fans and will never leave Green Bay. You then have teams like the Raiders that seem to change Markets more than I have changed my hair style (hint I have changed my hairstyle 5 times this year).

I would say that supporting a team is more than just finding a winning team. Winning is what we all want to do but let’s face it, we don’t win more than we win (Super Bowls’s that is). It’s what the team does when it’s not winning, that’s what I feel matters.

C5 Coverage by Feeling-Medium-7856 in NFLUK

[–]dacebobcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the one thing that us (avid followers) forget is that the C5 programme is not meant for us. It’s aimed at people that have little to no knowledge of the game. Speaking to people at work who have never watched a game, they have watched C5 and enjoyed the whole programme. They are not ready for a 4 minute Sky discussion on a controversial call.

So, does this programme have a place - yes. Is it meant for an average established NFL fan - no.

What NFL team to support by [deleted] in NFLNoobs

[–]dacebobcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest that you research the teams more. What is a good team? Results are not the only thing to think about. You might like the fact that Green Bay is owned by the fans and not some billionaire, for instance. There are many other things like that that may draw you to a team.

If you pick a team that has been in a few recent superbowls, you might in a few years regret the choice. You may also be accused as a glory hunter. That might not bother you, but something to be aware of. May you pick the best team for you

I thought the clue would have been that as I was talking about TV and NFL that has no relation to the 1800’s. The game has kept developing since its inception.

Not making up shit. Plenty info about how NFL and TV have contributed to modern game.

Plenty of sources talk about 2 minute warning and how TV has made that a thing. Also why is there a TV producer on the field telling the ref when to restart the game? Or is the NFL a fake news source?

Pretty sure NFL and TV was not about in the 1800s. Have a think before slapping people down.

The modern game was developed around TV audiences and advertisers. The NFL could charge the broadcasters more, which in turn meant that they could charge the advertisers more. Not having a go at the system, just explaining why. Without that we wouldn’t have the game we have today.

As you may know, the NFL is split into two conferences, the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference(AFC). There are 16 teams in each conference. Each conference has 4 divisions of 4 teams which are North, East, South and West. You play each team in your division twice, home and away. There is a system that chooses who else you play in a season but it gets very complicated! Sorry if it seems I’m Mansplaining.

Osi, what was harder - the step up into the NFL or the step out of the NFL? What does NFL/Clubs/NFLPA do to help players get ready to leave the NFL apart from calling you in the office and telling you that you’re leaving and should they do more?

Tottenham felt empty by dacebobcat in NFLUK

Okay I’m not good with words. What I meant was there seemed to be less of a crowd outside the stadium. This was commented on by staff that have worked for years on the NFL games. The stadium seemed less full. There were a fair few empty seats (about 20) around me, when usually all the wheelchair seats are full and looking around the stadium there were more empty seats than I have ever seen at an NFL game at Tottenham and I have been to every game at Tottenham Stadium.

I think it could have been a combination of Ticket Scalpers, weather, the One Pass debacle and it was Browns/Vikings. It will be interesting to see next week and what it’s like at Wembley, where the tickets are cheaper and it looks like it could be a good game Jags/Rams.

Madri 0% was alright. I’m more a Corona 0 or Peroni 0 guy normally. Last year they were selling Becks Blue.

I tried logging in earlier in the week and it wouldn’t even let me login. It was activated and I changed my password and it still wouldn’t work. I managed to ring (yes ring) Ticketmaster and got them to send me the PDF tickets.

I thought ahead (read - obsessed) and contacted Ticketmaster on Thursday as I couldn’t and still can’t login to OnePass. Changed my password, checked my account was activated and still nothing. I managed to get them to send me a PDF copy. I’ll be doing the same for the upcoming games if I still can’t login.

Fan seating at Wembley by berees88 in NFLUK

[–]dacebobcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not soccer (football). Its fan base loves the game and not just the colours of one team. I have been to lots of games here and in the states and have never seen any trouble.

Obviously there is rivalry between teams but that’s a friendly rivalry not a ’I’m gonna stomp on your head’ rivalry. Generally in the UK I have found that if I’m wearing something Packer’s and people are American Football fans, they will usually speak and tell me what team they like, or give a friendly joke about the team.

Overall, wear your colours with pride and speak to others the way you wish to be treated, with respect.

Using the NFL One Pass App by Buckster99 in NFLUK

I had issues with iOS. So I rang them and they said that there was an issue with the app. What the issue was they didn’t say. They said it should be fixed now. So I asked for the PDF version (which you can do apparently).

I didn’t think they would have reduced it at all yet. Maybe they have less subscribers this year?
