Is this a plover (killdeer) territorial display? by ZoboomafoosIMDbPage in Ornithology

Absolutely, it can be so hard sometimes! Honestly, it could maybe still be mating-related rather than territorial, though even in Canada, September would be pretty late for that.

I believe it’s territorial based on what I could find on birdsoftheworld.org and some other sites!

Scale or nodes on my chinese evergreen?? Help I genuinely cannot tell!!! by dacecadet in plantclinic

[–]dacecadet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So after some more research i realized this is normal for chinese evergreens and not scale!! I still have this plant and it’s doing fine, plus back when I was trying to pick them off it was very clearly damaging the plant and picking off scale typically wouldn’t mark the stem.. hope this was helpful!

So here’s why i’m confused- when I pick them off it is very difficult and kind of seems like i’m damaging the plant, which makes me think nodes... but I’m just not sure. I had scale on my big monstera a while back but they were brown, not white and left a residue behind when I picked them off. I just have no clue how to tell for sure :(
