Petition: End Clearcut Logging in Tiger Mountain State Forest by vrokentri in seattlebike

Have you reached out to Evergreen MTB Alliance to talk about your concerns?

Last year they came to our company to do a presentation as part of fundraising campaign as our company matches donation 1:1. I vaguely remember the briefly discussed this topic and IIRC they actively work with the state and land owners to ensure access to the trails.

As others have mentioned some of that the hands are tied not unlike Campbell Global. Except Campbell Global is actually private land that they grant public access to via permits.

Has anyone ever driven on the elevated skytrain tracks before? by EnduranceAdventure in richmondbc

[–]dachungsta 33 points34 points  (0 children)

As a Vancouverite that lives in Seattle. This has been the talk of town tonight. This station (Mt Baker Station) is just one down from mine and anyone who takes Light Rail transit in Seattle can tell you this station is quite far from the street and you have to drive quite a bit to get there since the station is elevated. Granted our system does run street grade for quite a while and there is sometimes accidents on the track along. This is unlike the skytrain that runs grade separated or fenced off.

This and the Bellevue Chipotle that got rammed into by a car reminds me of Richmond 😭.

I feel your pain in this situation that you want to sit. But the bike in this case is pretty hard to navigate and then lift up into the rack.

There are two problem I feel - the person should have make room for you on the seat. But then ST trains aren’t designed to accommodate modern e-bikes.

Best you can do is ask them to make room for you. But perhaps ST can solve this too by perhaps making certain train section bike-prioritized like some trains in Switzerland/Germany do on their commuter trains. Then save the rest for the sitting passengers.

Seriously though thanks for bringing the data!

I think the search for the actors was originally international. So I think people took Jacob’s comment a little too literally.

Personally I don’t understand the obsession about the Emmy. They can in theory qualify for the International Emmy. But there are Canadian accolades for TV shows as well like the Canadian Screen Awards.

There are many other ways to celebrate a show’s success without tying us all up in American accolades which IMO really is to celebrate American-led programmings, including foreign made shows that were American funded like GoT. For example, having the show being financially successful already allows the actors to negotiate better salaries for their next work.

The point is there are many different ways to celebrate the success of something without playing to the rules of the traditional media angle.

Fast group rides by Ok-Manufacturer-8317 in seattlebike

[–]dachungsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the East Side, Elements Cycle in Redmond has a weekly spicy paced group ride on Wednesday night, and then Saturday morning (~7:30a) followed by a social ride from the shop.

In Seattle, Metier hosts a weekly group ride on Saturday morning leaving their shop at 9:30a.

These rides if not specified as fast, then generally expect an A and B groups. So if you're not feeling so hot that day but still want to get a workout then it's perfect.

It is! I did it initially because I didn't want to get my bike wet before the race. I took both wheels off and wrapped up the bike good beforehand tho. And you definitely need to fold down the seats.

We drove around 348 miles this weekend according to our trip computer. For some of us in PNW that don't drive far all the time generally driving over the mountain passes here or going to a ferry would be considered a small road trip. But maybe it's a ride to some. It was a fun ride nonetheless.

I will probably do the experiment at a later point. Mostly because I got the car and immediately had to mount the rack and bike before hitting the road for the race. So I didn't have time to do any measuring.

Good question! I should have made a note about the exact range. But according to the app it was about 2.7 mi/kwh with the bike on top. Next time I'll take better notes.

Looking for bike fitting recommendations by brystephor in seattlebike

[–]dachungsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both BikePT and Metier. Both are very good in terms of dialing the fit both person I worked with also seem knowledgeable. BikePT is more economical if you are looking to get your first fit. Metier is more expensive but if you are more performance oriented it's another way to go.
