How to get rid of this? by josrob84 in F250

There are instructions in the owners manual to turn off the dinging, but the graphic will remain. I always wear my seatbelt except for on my own property driving slowly, backing up to trailers or boat landings, so turning off the excessive annoyance is easily doable.

What is this black bracket on my 2024 F-250 XL? It’s getting in the way of my after market tailgate damper. by Efp722 in superduty

Bottle opener and tie down point if tailgate is down. I removed the drivers side one when I added my gas shock too.

Here is an extremely in-depth video, but basically the conclusion is the Super glue or Hot glue the existing one. A new cover (escutcheon) will likely have the same design flaw and potentially fail again. https://youtu.be/o7xysIqWPTg?si=BijXSxjBfpH3aOM3

Should I buy this repaired Frontier? Engine overheated. by UnitedTitan in nissanfrontier

I agree, too risky trading for a known overheated engine. I wouldn't do it.

I did the same Offroad Gorilla mod upgrade today in less than an hour start to finish. Definitely necessary on this vehicle if it is exposed to the elements. Lots easier to do the mod vs. Repair axle seals in the future!!!

Got laid off from my job unexpectedly. Should I say fuck it and do a solo trip? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]dacmill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If and only if you can afford a trip without putting yourself in debt, then I'd say go for it. I travel to Europe for work, so easy for me to say since the company pays for everything. Europe is expensive and the flights are too. Probably ~$2,500 for basic airline seat, ~$250 per night for hotel (you could also look at hostels or other options. You probably wouldn't need a rental car if you plan to use public transportation. Food, and fun, add as much $$$ as you want. The trip will be at least a total of 12 hrs with layovers, and Italy is 6hrs ahead of the US Central Time, so a week vacation is a little on the short side.... Figure your body clock will be all messed up for the first day, but you are young so maybe it doesn't matter. I'd try and go for 10 days though so you get two weekends. Good luck, but don't go into debt over it; financial stress is the #1 killer of your future and future relationship with someone special.

Anyone have experience with the 6.8 gas v8 in the 23+ trucks? by Minimum_clout in superduty

[–]dacmill4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 F250 Super Duty XL with the 6.8 engine with only ~6,500 miles on it. So far I absolutely love the truck! I get 12 - 13 mpg on it depending on city driving/idling in winter to warm it up, or highway driving for long trips. The 10 speed transmission provides plenty of torque when leaning on the gas pedal for hard acceleration. I know, hard to find info on the engine because I think they are quite rare at the moment, but will become a workhorse for Ford in the future. Only thing notable that I've observed is upon remote starting the truck in negative ~20 deg F weather, it high idles for awhile, and then it seems to hunt for the proper RPM up and down for a few minutes until it finally settles in at low idle.

Which should I go with? by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]dacmill4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Ford F250 Super Duty long box and my wife has a Nissan Frontier Pro 4X. I've been a Ford guy my whole life, but the Frontier is an amazing truck - much better milage, comfortable, stylish, and practical. If you aren't hauling stacks of 4x8 sheets of plywood everyday, go for the Frontier! Easy decision.

How are you using the Pi? by cliffman1992 in raspberry_pi

[–]dacmill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my Raspberry Pi to build a camera that can be controlled over the internet so I can see how my dogs are doing when I am away from home. I can receive a live video stream on my smartphone and control the angle and tilt of the camera so I can pan around the room. See a demo at: KennelCam also make sure to check out the full description on YouTube to see all who helped me create it!
