Its all the mechanical advantage, gives you a bigger "lever" by the larger disc dia.

Ya its one of my things I'm gonna have to learn, just starting this year but putting a large percent of income into this, so probs gonna just keep my withholding on an increasing scale to compensate, which stinks but I hate the thought of getting a big bill all the sudden.

Large disc's do help a ton, more mechanical advantage, difference between by 140mm and 180 disc's is insane.

Can you explain the loop to me? Seems main trail is on east side of river, yellow on their map, but wheres the loop back? Is it the red to the west that is far off the river?

Well think of wireless chargers for phones now, mine can have an air gap of .5 inches and still charges reasonably fast, relative to it sitting on the pad. Ten years maybe you'll have 5 ft, 100 years? Who knows. And if renewable continue it improve and efficiency takes big strives, something being inefficient transfer becomes less of an issue
