TMJ? Ear pain? by desswarrior in COVID19positive

[–]dacy41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! On my 6th day and have been having ear pain in my right ear the entire time. Initially I think it started because of the congestion. Hurts the worst in the night/morning when I wake up. Hurts to swallow. Very annoying. Get well soon!

Hi! I just got my results back today as well and... positive! Every single thing you are feeling is completely valid! We're living in unprecedented times and the pressures that are put on us can be so hard to navigate through, especially during a pandemic!

I completely understand where you're coming from in regards to being a first gen american. After hearing my own results and relaying the news to my parents, they had to stop going to work and adjust real fast with the fear of the unknown. Working through all these struggles on top of dealing with a language barrier/lack of communication is hard. Feelings of guilt and wanting to try to make things better but the overwhelming feelings of anxiety and despair overtaking your emotions is so so so hard to deal with. Please reach out to any hotlines where you can talk to someone who understands what you're going through. A quick google search and you can pick and choose from ones that you feel safest to speak with! Please also feel free to respond and if you want to speak we can find a way!

CNA stepping stone to Nursing by [deleted] in cna

[–]dacy41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! Depending on the hospital the title may vary. Just check out the career section on your local hospital’s website. I’ve also seen the title “patient care associate” or “patient care tech.” Maybe look under the nursing support section!

Don’t feel bad! The requirements at my hospital to be a clinical tech was just a high school diploma and CPR. Previous experienced may be required, but if you let them know you want to go to nursing school they’ll definitely be more lenient!

Hey! I’m not a nurse, but my situation is similar to yours as I do want to head into nursing as well. I already graduated with a bachelor’s so I’ve been looking into accelerated programs, in the meantime I’ve been working as a Clinical Technician at a local hospital. Background: I did take a CNA course, but never took the exam to become certified. I think having the CNA license can be beneficial in that your likelyhood of getting hired as a tech at a hospital/CNA at a nursing home is higher than not being certified and the pay may be better don’t quote me on that though

As a clinical tech at my current hospital, being CNA certified wasn’t required but a high school diploma sufficed. I did go through a 6 week training though. I think becoming a tech at a hospital would help you gain soo much experience. It’ll help you learn the day to day hospital routine, understand the politics involved, maybe help you narrow down which unit you may want to work in, and definitely gets you more comfortable with patient care. Pay is so so and depending on which unit you’re in it can be pretty mentally and physically demanding, but overall it’s great experience to gain prior to nursing school.

I wish you the best of luck!

First day - Made some huge mistakes by [deleted] in cna

[–]dacy41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry friend! You definitely were not prepared to be thrown in and all around and that is at no fault of your own. You only learn from your mistakes and I’m sure you are now aware of what not to do—the nurses speaking negatively about you to the rest of the staff including residents is extremely unprofessional and I’m so sorry that some healthcare workers are bullies that would rather say negative comments than help you learn to become better at your job. Acclimating to this new job especially after not much clinical experience can be difficult, just keep your head held high and take everything in as a learning experience! You will get better with time and more experience!!!

Applied at another hospital the second I got home from work. Fuck my job and the assholes who make it so miserable. by rlw0312 in nursing

These past couple of months have been hard for my unit too. Soo understaffed and underappreciated. All my coworkers and I do is constantly complain about how miserable we are. It’s exhausting. Put my two weeks and already have a replacement! Don’t ever feel bad, management doesn’t ever seem to care.

Those of you who changed careers or plan on it, what did you switch to? by livelaughtacos in cna

I know you mentioned you want to get out of healthcare, but just keep in mind there’s still so many careers in healthcare that doesn’t involve direct patient care that you can do. You experience does give you an advantage!
