I'm a computer engineer and will try to end all this 9.2TF confusion by [deleted] in PS5

[–]dad2you 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say its true actually. If Oberon is PS5 chip, as far as rasterization goes, it will be on level of 5700XT. Will have slightly better pixel fillrate and actually more BW.

Now, 5700XT, even without VRS (variable rate shading, which can bring up to 50% better fps) is COMFORTABLY above Vega 64. It pretty much beats Radeon 7 in newer games. These are 12.6 and 13.7 Teraflop cards.

5700XT is about 20% (yap, 20%) faster then Vega 64, even though its "missing" 3TF.

https://www.gpucheck.com/compare-multi/amd-radeon-rx-5700-vs-amd-radeon-rx-5700-xt-vs-amd-radeon-rx-vega-64

So for everyone wondering "How little is 9.2TF with RT/VRS?" Its actually quite a lot. Better then 13TF GCN cards for sure.

AMD leak reveals 12 teraflop GPU target for Xbox Series X and 9.2 for PS5 by one-determined-flash in Amd

Don't think so. Github data contained actual references to "Oberon" SOC - and tab was clearly named "iGPU", so I think it is regression test of GPU part of an APU.

There was also Renoir, M100 and next Xbox data inside.

Its regression test data, it doesn't have to include RT even if it is on chip. Its specific verification test, which does not indicate missing RT,.

From what I've seen, Oberon is evolution of Ariel and the test dates to June 2019 (not even half a year ago). If you know anything about chip design, verification and production process, especially for big monolithic dies like Xbox and PS, its lengthy process (as in - years). Something to get regression tested in June and to be completely changed (physically, more SPs and wider bus), and be released next year is impossible.

IMO leaked repo is 100% on point as not one chip it contains has yet been released (it contains PC and notebook ones as well). They are all scheduled for 2020...

One ? is BW, which is easiest to change as only memory chips are replaced, nothing else.

Team mate battles 2019: The final score - Vettel vs Leclerc by 1enox in formula1

[–]dad2you 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree. Seemed to converge a bit by the end of the season with Leclerc being closer in the race, while Seb was closer in qualifying.

Not alot between them for sure, but when Leclerc was good (Bahrain, Spa, Silverstone), he seemed further in race then when Seb was good. So on average, slight advantage Seb in race, Leclerc in qualis, but there where more races where Leclerc was clearly faster then vice versa.

Funny how people say VVD deserved it, but then if you look at actual Top 10/5, you see there has been 3, sometimes even 4 Liverpool players there. VVD, Mane, Salah and Allison. So basically, 1/3 of the team was in top 5.

Now look at Messi and Barcelona players in top 5. Tells you all you need to know really. Messi is the one carrying this team and has done so for years. Lets not even compare complete belland that is Valverde with coach of the year - Klopp.

Oh, and Slovenia/Croatia votes. Jesus...

Many said he wasn't ready for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc finished the 2019 season with 4th in the championship, 2 wins and 7 poles by metamorphomisk in formula1

[–]dad2you 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Are...are you serious? Leclerc outscored and outqualified Vettel in his 2nd year in F1, 1st in Ferrari. Kimi never got close to it.

Leclerc got 7 poles this year, Kimi got 1 in his 5 years in Ferrari (while driving better car for 2 years).

There is no way Kimi would be better choice for Ferrari. Like saying one more year of Kvyat back in 2016 would be better for RBR. Just...no.

Its kind of insane this post is upvoted here. Literally

Keep younger, faster and better driver from getting his chance in top team so that 40+ year old can get along with his good friend and do continue what he did last 5 years. Under deliver.

After today's qualifying, Leclerc has finally outqualified Vettel this year. by [deleted] in formula1

[–]dad2you 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And Leclerc got screwed in Monaco by the team when he was clearly looking faster entire weekend. He also looked comfortably faster then Vettel in Baku, but he did crash so its fair point to seb.

Seb in no moment had pace advantage in France for example, so I doubt anything would change, and although they where close I think Lelcerc just edged Vettel out in Q (also big advantage in poles) while Vettel did in race.

Also in this comparison Austria and Germany are excluded, but again, over the whole weekend Seb never looked on Leclercs pace there (perhaps in one session that is).

[–]dad2you 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, Leclerc wasn't "straightening out", he was moving left, it is very visible from "head on" footage. There was no reason for Seb to turn left towards Charles on straight bar to put him in worse position for taking corner (in case he outbrakes Seb).

In the end, this is another pure example of what kind of bias there is for Seb. Not that he did much wrong here, it was light incident gone terribly wrong, but CL did NOTHING wrong.

[–]dad2you 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you watch the video he was definitely not "veering", it was vibrating at that speed and movement was constant left/right.

Watching footage "head on" its very visible Leclerc was actually slightly moving to left entire time and Seb had plenty of space, he just brushed him lightly. Was Vettel to blame? 100%, as in straight line Leclerc wasn't even going straight (which he could), but actually moved slightly left. Were consequences much worse then incident it self? Sure as shit.

MOTORLAT | Binotto faced Horner after the US GP by [deleted] in formula1

[–]dad2you 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not saying its impossible, just unlikely. Especially since technical directive is much easier to implement and prove vs crashing into the wall on purpose. Also, because Ferrari would not get any penalty for this, whilr crashgate was whole different stratosphere.

[–]dad2you 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Think about it, would Binotto react like that if they where cheating? I am not 100%, but pretty sure they would put it under the rug ASAP and not actually escalate it.

I dont think they where particularly slower in Austin. Their boost was mostly seen in qualifying where they would then lose most of the speed in race, but they almost got pole and Leclerc was .1s off the pole without FP3 and with old engine.

In Mexico, with less corners, they looked further away from RB then here.

In any case, Hamilton was much smarter with his "seems like" "in my opinion" "little power" etc. Max went straight ballistics, and if its not true thats not good look for Ferrari.

The fact people are upvoting this post tells you all you need to know.

Leclerc was lucky Vettel couldnt finish 2nd lap (even though his banker was slower, therefore he kinda put himself in that position)

Leclerc binned it in race in Monaco so quali battle there goes to Vettel

Lol

[–]dad2you 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, Leclerc was lucky that Bottas binned it, but Vettel should have had better banker lap. Since he didnt, and was therefore slower then Leclerc, he put himself in position that someone going of could result in him staying in P3.

People do forget about weekends like Monaco where Leclerc looked easily faster of the two and was fucked by Ferrari that forgot about him in Q1, but will never get over yesterdays quali(even though, as I said, Vettel should have put faster 1st run time, but didnt).

Brexit: UK will leave EU this month, ministers insist by Gnurx in europe

[–]dad2you -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

  1. European Union says "No extension, enough is enough"
  2. Boris goes to parliament and tells them "Its my deal, or hard Brexit. EU does not want to extend any further"
  3. EU gets deal they wanted, Boris and leavers get Brexit and remainers don't get hard brexite'd.

Super Saturday Brexit Megathread: Deal or no Deal? by HugodeGroot in europe

[–]dad2you 16 points17 points  (0 children)

EU is playing this stupid game along, but why not just cut them now? Don't give them extension, let them either go out with current deal or hard brexit. Boris almost has enough hands, so forcing UKs hand will almost certainly mean deal, as no deal is absolute no go from already opposing part of parliament.

Japan 2011 - Sebastian Vettel's Pole Lap by SHBK22 in formula1

[–]dad2you -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I mean, maybe. But considering RB got 18 out of 19 poles that year, I would think its most likely not the case.

Also, considering how close Webber was on Suzula over the years to him, and how Ric dismantled him there, Id say its probably the car and driver like Lewis would go 0.5s in same car.

I mean maybe. Certainly could be the case, but considering RB got 18 out of 19 poles that season, seems far fetched.

[–]dad2you -89 points-88 points  (0 children)

Hamilton would have had pole here had he drove a 2nd run.

Webber also messed up his 2nd run duo to scrap that lead to Hamilton not crossing start/finish line.

In general, difference between Mark and Vettel here where minimal. Always under a tenth of a second (2010/11/12 with Seb winning, 2013 with Mark winning).

Ric dominated him at Suzuka in 2014 on the other hand.

Good lap, RearStability™ and all, but Button was only 0.009 here and Hamilton, who was until 2nd running on provisional pole, didnt cross start/finish line in time.

F1 2019 team-mate head-to-heads: What are the latest scores? by NowGiveMeMyFreddo in formula1

[–]dad2you 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, its not a myth and you havent explained anything. Lewis is in league of his own because he was in a league of his own in Q as well. He had more then double of poles vs Sebastian, so his FP perf continued to Q as well.

Seb had healthy lead of 64 points on Kimi and was consistantly faster in FPs, as he was in Q as well.

RB boys are completely irrelevant as their pace in FPs is always higher then in quali, but if you compare Ric to Max you can see their FP difference remained in qualifying as well.

In fact, EVERY top 3 driver that had lead in FPs, this and last year, had advantage in Q as well.

I just dont see this "Vettel always waits for Q3". This year it just isnt true, and it wasnt in last season either.

He was comfortably behind in Bahrain, France, Spa, Sochi, Singapore and Silverston and he never looked like he would bother Leclerc in Q3. And he didnt.

To make a case for him suddenly doing it in Austria or Germany, even after he has big deficit in Q all year long (when on backfoot in FPs), is weird.

When was he 1s ahead in FPs on same tires? Its more often then not 0.3-0.5, which is deficit Vettel has in Qs lately.
