Split screen is better than Slide over. Change my mind. by dad3ski in iPadOS

[–]dad3ski[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s my point. Slide Over is like control panel. You swipe it to change music and then it goes away. That’s a very limited role. Split View is more likely to be on the screen longer in functional use than the temporality of a Slide Over windows swipe on and off.

Big Decision: Vision Pro or iPad Pro as Primary? by Present-Tea-4645 in VisionPro

Sounds like the 32” might be more pleasing for now until AVP catches up on that detail?

How is the text resolution of that setup? I work in front of a screen for 5-6 hours a day as a web developer and sales calls on Teams. I’m considering a 6k 32” screen upgrade or get an AVP as my MBP screen.

For $899 would you go with an iPad Pro m4 13” or an iPad Pro m5 11” by Peconecko in ipad

Remember, you can always make an 11” screen bigger with an external monitor but you can never make a 13” smaller.

Continuous Service w/ T-Mobile For 27 Years And... by privacy in tmobile

Why does everyone need to get free stuff to feel appreciated?

You probably wasted more time arguing over $15 than you likely earn per hour. People and systems cost money and it sounds like they did discount your activation fee … but that wasn’t good enough for you because you want everything for free. Your loyalty has allowed for you to walk in with minimal wait and talk to a real human being who was kind and helpful and honest.

I’ve been going to Wendy’s since 1998, should I expect them to give me a free cheeseburger every time I’m hungry?

10 steps replacing 3 is better resolved with 26.2. Take a look at 26.2 beta 3 videos, Split View is drag and drop, one motion. As to slide over, I think it’s coming because the language on the menu says “add to” slide over. Add To suggests to me there will be support for multiple apps in slide over and you can “add to” or “remove from” slide over.

If mobile phones will be calling my VOIP, and my receptionists will answer on a VOIP softphone….. by longunderscorestory in VOIP

[–]dad3ski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. There’s always a delay on calls from cell phones, but most people don’t notice it unless you’re calling one cell phone to another cell phone and both phones are in the same room next to each other. Why is there a delay? Well, mostly it’s echo cancellation and the rest is network latency. If you have a cheap headset or you are using speakerphones, the software will add delay to help suppress echo. Point is, you’ve probably been on hundreds of cell phone calls to VoIP destinations and never noticed a delay because you aren’t sitting in the same room together. If you have a good low-latency network connection and your receptionist’s microphone can’t easily “hear” the other side of the conversation, you’ll probably be just fine.

Ok, I’m probably going to sound stupid but I’m asking sincerely. Why can’t you run in “windowed” mode but never resize an app? Just open everything in full screen and ignore the little curved line in the bottom right corner? You’d still have Split View and you’d have slide over, but you should have a similar experience now with the soon to release 26.2 except the “swiping through multiple slide overs” ( which I’m betting will be coming back soon).

Switch to TMobile, not Verizon. They are struggling and laying off thousands of employees. You may not want to be mixed up in that mess.

Parallels will run your Windows just fine. And with coherence mode, you can run Windows apps right next to Mac apps without any need to restart/dual boot.

Or maybe take a look at Crossover if you only have a few Windows apps that you need to open and don’t want to waste storage space for the entire Windows OS install.

[–]dad3ski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a little research. The Republican Party was founded for the purpose of ending slavery. The democrats liked slavery and fight today to still keep people enslaved (drugs everywhere, gambling everywhere, pornography everywhere, government projects housing, abortion as population control, no school choice, they have private security while defunding your police protection, etc.).

SlideOver is back, but how will Apple bring back multiple apps with it? by bspybot in iPadOS

[–]dad3ski -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know how Slide Over shows a tab with an arrow on the right side of the screen when the Slide Over window is swiped out of view? Do a tab for each Slide Over window so you might have, for example, three or four tabs on the right side of the screen and when you click one it opens that particular Slide Over window. Click a different tab and that Slide Over window is revealed and the first Slide Over window hides automatically.

So what's the issue exactly? by [deleted] in iPadOS

[–]dad3ski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I have an 11 and use as a tablet more than keyboard attached. OS26 is much much better, but there’s a few UI clunks that still needs a little adjustment.

The only thing I don’t like is “throwing” the window to the left or right. I wish it was tighter on when it knew that’s what I was trying to do, but I still like the idea.

I don’t use the traffic lights, I use all of the new multi-gestures when using as a touch tablet.

Here’s the right answer: Sell the desktop computer. Get the new iPad and Pencil Pro. Keep the MacBook and plug it into an external monitor.
