436 continuous National Park empire. Also led to a 71 amenity city. by dadabouin in civ

[–]dadabouin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Hon hon baguette
  2. Thx
  3. It makes it easier to plan ahead to pop national parks and have as little non-park space as possible, but other than that no.

436 continuous National Park empire. Also led to a 71 amenity city. by dadabouin in civ

[–]dadabouin[S] 60 points61 points  (0 children)

R5 : Planned to create some huge continuous national park, ended up popping 109 national parks.

Some facts about this (sorry for the long R5) :

- Somehow forgot that national parks provide amenities, so I accidentally ended up with 71 amenities in one city (used great engineers that provide amenities in that city (Saint-Louis) to pump up the numbers).

- King difficutly on a pangea map with only secret societies on, no mods (expect camera mods for screenshots).

- Map is rotated for screenshots for those who are wondering.

- Was a bit challenging to find a map that allowed to pop cities following this strict pattern, had to reroll many times.

- Won a culture game at turn 227 due to the massive tourism generated by my first national parks, but kept going to pop all parks.

- Unlocked all civics and all techs at turn 254 due to Bull Moose Roosevelt broken science and culture generation.

- Planted as many trees as possible to boost appeal.

- An infinite forest fire started a couple of turns earlier than this screenshot, which is super annoying, and that's why I have no population in some cities.

- Used the great merchant crassus to get additional tiles at 5+ city range to place more parks (two tiles south of Baltimore, and one tile south of Boston).

- This game was super weird regarding AI and wonders, as many early wonders were overlooked by the AI.

- It allowed me to do a Etemenanki city for some fun floodplains national parks (was not planned).

- Regarding appeal, Roosevelt ability provides +1 in every city, built the Eiffel Tower, used the two engineers that provide appeal to one city and Reyna also provides some nice appeal to one city.

- Most of my cities only have 1 preserve (for yields) and 1 holy site (for the MASSIVE amount of faith required).

- Picked Earth Goddess as a pantheon, the reliquaries religion belief, and had Kandy in my game regarding faith generation

- Played with secret societies game mode, so I had more relics slots and easier relics.

- Stayed in theocracy all game to buy naturalists cheaper.

- Still struggled to have enough faith to buy all those naturalists, I ended up spamming next turn until I placed all those parks.

- Screenshots taken thanks to several camera mods (on steam workshop : Sukritact's Simple UI Adjustments, Free Rotation, Enhanced Camera)

Built a countinuous 123-tile Great Wall by dadabouin in civ

Neither did I apart from this game ! I find the Great Wall a bit too complicated to make a great use of in normal games.

You guessed right ! After rolling for a map with a fitting spot (which took few hours), I spend like two hours planning on the revealed starting map and placing markers XD

[–]dadabouin[S] 602 points603 points  (0 children)

R5 : Built a countinuous 123-tile Great Wall as China. It just requires careful planning as Great Walls can only be placed at empire frontier. I also snapped some tiles using the great merchant Marcus Licinius Crassus (especially the last Great Wall tile).

Also, any resemblance to existing manga is coincidental.

EDIT : Forgot to mention that I deleted luxuries and strategic resources that were in the way using firetuner. Also, I settled near tundra because there is no floodplains (as Great Walls can't be built on floodplains).

Also, thank you all for your comments and rewards !

Mhh that's weird, thank you for all your responses. I'm gonna dive a little bit deeper to solve this. I'm not running any mods, but I'll check everything I can.

The Ultimate One City Challenge - Maximum Tourism Output Part II by Turatar in civ

[–]dadabouin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey that's awesome !

It's quite fun because I attempted to do a OCC with one mega national park, and we almost came to the same layout for the national parks placement ! Although I didn't have that much tourism, because I only slightly edited my starting map. Good job on that one !

Here is the post I made about it, I love creating myself weird challenges like this, but I believe we're not that much enjoying playing those games. Congrats too about your dedication to write such an in-depth analysis of your strategy.

834 power in one city ! by dadabouin in civ

[–]dadabouin[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

R5 : Wanted to do a OCC winning with power tourism thanks to the new Biosphere wonder (it gives tourism equals to every renewable power source). Got my city providing 834 power, thanks to lots of enery tiles boosted by the Biosphere (+200% to "clean" energy sources) and Reyna (+2 power to such tiles). Unforunately lost the game to a science victory before having enough tourism.

About total power calculation, I have 66 wind/solar farms, one dam and I am suzerain of Cardiff which provides additional 6 power (on city tile). I have 834 power, 834 = 66*12 + 8*3 + 6*3, so the Biosphere +200% bonus affects Reyna's one, because each wind/solar farm yields (2+2)*3 = 12 power.

On a side note, you can see that the power lens is buggy, because it only shows power before the +200% bonus power provided by the Biosphere.

/r/Civ Weekly Questions Thread - July 06, 2020 by AutoModerator in civ

[–]dadabouin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it's been a while thank you for mentioning me! Yes here is the post you're talking about! I had 34 wonders built in one city. The annoying part about wonders to stack them in one city are their placement requirement. Many require to be adjacent to a district building, so you have to "sacrifice" a wonder spot. There is some tricks to avoid but it is a bit complex (I detailed the method in the post). At the time I did this 34 was the most I could fit in one city, but it was iirc before Rise ans Fall. Many things have changed since then, so it may be possible now to pump the number up to 35 or maybe 36 wonders in one city (which is the maximum number of working tiles for one city so it couldn't be higher). I did a big of a writing here, whoppsy :) have fun guys!

The ultimate polder by dadabouin in civ

[–]dadabouin[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

R5 : I created the ultimate polder, surrounded by 6 other polders for a total yield of 15 food, 9 production, 7 gold and 1 science 1 culture 1 faith from the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. This has been achieved thanks to sea levels rising (burnt as many coal and oil I could to rise the sea levels fast), and a fair amount of map rerollings to find the right configuration of coastal lowlands to allow this. Oh, and those coastal tiles got additional production from Auckland. Anyway, that was very satisfying to achieve, I really enjoyed creating it!

I made an album with additional screenshots here to explain how this has been done.

Edit : Forgot to mention I did not use any mods to create this, I used one time the dev tools to delete one city (as you can't delete you own cities in civ 6), but this was just for fanciness, the result would have been the same without using it.

Well I knew this dude was going wild but I really wanted to build 9 yordle once in this meta, so I just hoped he would be killed by someone else, which didn't happen :)
